One of Jungkook’s most famous nicknames is “Golden Maknae,” and it might just be the one that reflects him the most accurately. From his visuals and personality to his talent and career, everything about Jungkook truly feels “golden,” leaving people with nothing but admiration and praise.
Even Jungkook himself acknowledges just how closely he relates to the word “Golden,” to the point where he chose it as the title of his first solo album. The process of creating the album was also filled with astonishing moments. In a conversation with SUGA about how the much-loved album came to life, BTS’s youngest member revealed a more mature side of himself — especially a sкιℓℓ he developed over the past ten years that even SUGA found surprising.
First, while recalling some behind-the-scenes stories, Jungkook revealed that the album’s title track, “Standing Next To You,” was actually recorded just one day after he finished recording “Seven.” The decision was almost spontaneous, as producer Andrew Watt — who was present during the recording of “Seven” — suggested playing a few other songs he had written for Jungkook.
Out of the handful of tracks he heard, Jungkook took a liking to “Standing Next To You” and decided to record it. What’s impressive is that he learned the entire song in less than a day and was back in the studio the very next day to record it.
If you’re not impressed yet, here’s a little comparison to help you understand just how incredible Jungkook’s recording sкιℓℓs are. When Jungkook shared this story, V pointed out that it usually takes him about three days to record a song — which is already considered quite fast. Many idols and artists need to spend an entire week, or even months, working on a single track.
SUGA concluded that Jungkook’s vocals had truly reached a whole new level based on what he heard about the solo recording sessions. He commented: "I only heard about your recording process this time around. I felt that you had upgraded to another level because you've gotten so much faster".
Jungkook then shared another fact that left SUGA genuinely ѕнσ¢кed: he only recorded for three hours a day during the production of “Golden.” SUGA initially αѕѕumed Jungkook was recording for about nine hours a day in order to finish everything so quickly.
This revelation made SUGA exclaim that it was truly an “unimaginable” level of growth. He said Jungkook works faster than anyone once he gets into the zone — part of it comes from his natural musical genius, and part of it from the decade-long training and experience he has accumulated as an artist.
On the flip side, Jungkook also opened up about the behind-the-scenes reality of this extremely short recording schedule. While the sessions were unusually fast, they were also very intense. He admitted feeling nearly burnt out by the tight schedule, saying: "I almost ďïệd while recording for this song! It was sooo tiring...Preparing for the album, the time was really short so there wasn't much time! In a week, I think I recorded like 4 or 5 songs.. 5 songs seems too much so I'll say 4!"
If you just hear that Jungkook recorded only three hours a day or could learn a song in one day and record it the next, you might think he made it look effortless. But in reality, it required not only talent and growth but also extreme focus and an iron will.
And it’s not just about speed — the results prove that quantity goes hand in hand with quality, showcasing his world-clαѕѕ vocal ability. RM’s vision for BTS’s youngest member back when the group first debuted turned out to be completely spot-on.
Jungkook’s success and growth are not only proof that RM chose the perfect nickname for him, but also a testament to the trust BTS members placed in each other from the very beginning.
