It is a fact that not all members of BTS come from a background of becoming a Kpop idol. Jimin is one such member as he initially stud̾i̾e ̾d to become a modern dance dancer.

Not only that, he is also one of the best students in school and his teachers have high expectations for him to become a successful dancer in the future. But later, when Jimin found his pαssion for being an idol, he didn't pursue modern dance anymore and his teacher was against this.

But luckily, there was someone who reinforced Jimin's decision to become an idol and even convinced his teacher so he could confidently pursue a new path. It's none other than Jimin's dad!

One thing that we all have to admit is that during our teenage years, the influence of family and teachers plays a huge role in our future careers. Jimin was also a similar case when he was a student.

Initially, the people who discovered Jimin's artistic and dancing talents from a young age were his parents and they were very proud of their son's talent. As a result, his father enrolled Jimin in an arts high school in Busan and developed his strengths in contemporary dance.

Jimin then also developed his talent in this field and was loved by his teachers. Because of Jimin's outstanding talent in the field of contemporary dance, when he expressed his desire to pursue a career as a Kpop idol instead of a professional dancer, his homeroom teacher expressed her disappointment and extremely opposed his decision.

His teacher once expressed: "Yes, Jimin was very good at contemporary dance since his acceptance to the school. He also had the talent for all forms of dance as well. When he expressed wanting to go down a path of a public dancer rather than just pure dancing, it felt like I was losing a genius. I also couldn’t help but think about just how hard a dance singer’s path is and how success is not guaranteed in this type of work. That is why I was against his decision..."

But at that decisive moment, Jimin's father played the most important role in his turning point. It was his father who gave Jimin permission and supported his decision to change his future when he learned his son's true wishes. He was even the one who talked to Jimin's teacher so she could understand his son's decision.

In an interview, Jimin's father shared his support when Jimin transitioned from contemporary dance to becoming a K-pop idol. Before Jimin's decision, his father showed absolute trust in his son and always followed his journey: "Let me first explain how he was accepted to the Busan High School of Arts. In middle school, there was a time where he had to write about his future. In his paper, he wrote that he wanted to go to Busan High School of Arts and learn dance and use that background and combine it with music to become a singer or a celebrity. His paper was very detailed and I think this was the start of his dream to become an idol.

Of course he was good at dancing and singing from a young age. In fifth grade, he would sing Maya’s “Azalea” at karaoke and he was able to sing the high notes very well."

When listening to what Jimin has planned for his future as well as watching the journey as he gradually realizes his dream, Jimin's father cannot do anything other than respect the decision and also not could object to his precious dream. And in the end, Jimin's father was right to trust and support his son's decision.

Even Jimin's teacher, seeing his success at the moment, congratulated and acknowledged his efforts. She proudly said, "...I didn’t know he would succeed like he is now. Either way, Jimin is a type of student who puts his all in whatever he does. He is where he is now because of his continuous efforts as BTS."
