Jungkook’s “Seven” Accused Of Plagiarism By Fin.K.L’s “Time Of Mask” Composer

Jungkook's song "Seven" was released with great success and even went on to become #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. But the joy didn't seem to last until Seven was recently accused of plagiarism.

A few hours ago, K-media reported that Jungkook's solo ḧïẗ was related to a controversy over allegations of plagiarism. Not only does it stop at reflecting the arguments related to this accusation to the public, but the musician's side accused Jungkook of sending documents directly to HYBE's headquarters.

The situation is currently quite complicated while fans are still waiting for the truth to be revealed:

Jungkook is the 6th member of BTS to debut as a solo artist and work on his music project in chapter 2 of the group. Choosing Seven - a song with a unique style, personality with a catchy melody, Jungkook has completely conquered the hearts of music lovers.

The proof is that Seven topped music charts at home and abroad right after its release. In particular, there is a remarkable achievement of #1 on Billboard Hot 100. Not only that, it is also a song that has set many records worldwide and brought Jungkook great influence.

For this reason, perhaps Seven is also the song that has received the most attention recently. Even recently, it was related to an allegation of plagiarism. Specifically, on August 22, according to Alpha Economy, the solo song "SEVEN" released on July 21 by Jungkook (BTS) The accusations claim that they “borrowed” the “same scale sequence” from the Fin.K.L song “Time of Mask” in 2000.

A relevant official said regarding this controversy: "SEVEN and Fin.K.L's Time of the Mask are confirmed to be very similar. I also learned that some famous composers expressed the scale sequence of the two songs have the same harmony."

Fin.K.L's song 시간 (Time of the Mask) was composed by musician Yang Joon Young, one of the famous K-Pop composers. Meanwhile, Jungkook's song "SEVEN" was composed by Andrew Watt, Jon Bellion, Cirkut, Theron Makiel Thomas, Latto.

In addition, musician Yang Joon Young is said to have sent a document requesting an explanation including the digital track and sound sheet to A, one of the main producers of HYBE. Both HYBE and the songwriter side are alleged to be looking into an issue to show the truth about whether Seven has plagiarized music.

At the time the news went viral, HYBE sent out a "temporary response" stating that the issue could not be resolved at this time as producer Bang Si Hyuk was currently on a business trip abroad in the United States. Along with that, a representative of HYBE also told the media that they will provide an update on this matter if there are any conclusive reports in the future.

The incident then surprised the public while Jungkook and BTS fans calmly waited for responses from both sides:

- You gotta be kidding!!! Those two songs are far very different from each other, just get straight to the point that they needed more views and streaming from Armys. Phew!

- i just played the song and genuinely asking... where

- They don’t even sound the same??

- The composer has to be joking right? I just listened to both side by side and I don’t see what could have been plagiarized

- FYI!!! they are trying to use “scale sequence” as a basis for the claim. scale sequence in simple terms are patterns of consecutive notes that are repeated at different starting points within the same scale. We should keep calm and wait for news from HYBE

- I just listened. I cannot tell which part are the same. Seven is successful that’s the problem

- The difference is too huge to say the similarity of 2 songs.. Kinda suspicious because after 5 weeks of being top on BB chart and other platforms, they just noticed that today and claiming such? Lmao..this is totally BS

- Not an army but this is straight up lies. My nosy αss listened to both songs, I don't hear any similarity that would justify a plagiarism allegation. Also according to the article, 7days composers are all non кσяєαns so I doubt they know a first gen song.
