Jungkook Responds To A Request For Him To Remove His Tattoos

Jungkook is one of the Kpop idols with many tattoos and he is also the person who has helped change the stereotype about tattoos in the idol world. However, not all fans are aware that the decision to get a tattoo is his freedom.

Therefore, during Jungkook's live broadcast, there were some comments asking him to remove the tattoo on his hand because it was too much. Immediately, Jungkook did not hesitate to respond to toxic comments from some impolite fans.

His intelligent and decisive answer received many compliments from ARMYs:

In ḳöŕệä, although the tattoo industry is worth up to $170 million a year, it is not considered a healthy or publicized thing. Tattoos in the eyes of ḳöŕệäns are often viewed negatively. Not only that, many people also have the stereotype that tattoos are only for bad guys, gangsters or violent people instead of thinking that it is an art. ḳöŕệän television stations even have a requirement to cover tattoos when appearing on television.

But that doesn't stop idols, fashionistas and bloggers in this country from getting tattoos as a way to express their personality or record special memories and emotions. In particular, since Jungkook - the top Kpop superstar has tattoos and he shares their meanings widely on social networks, tattoos have become even more popular.

With his influence and the way Jungkook shows that tattoos are much more meaningful than many people's outdated prejudices, he has made fans love and accept them as a part of him. However, there are some strange fans who still oppose Jungkook's tattoos, criticizing and even asking him to remove his tattoos.

Specifically, during a live broadcast, when Jungkook talked about his tattoos, he received dozens of comments from impolite fans expressing their dislike for his tattoos. Some say he should remove it so he doesn't have to cover it up when he appears on national television, some say he'll regret it when he sees the tattoos in the future...:

- "No, Jungkook, you shouldn't destroy your body like that"

- "It makes him look like a thug"

- "Look at Jungkook's arm, it's hσrríвlє"

- "He shouldn't do that as his reputation of idol"

- "He looks like a bad guy with these tattoos"

- "I think there might come a day you regret it..."

In response to this reaction from some fans, Jungkook officially stated for the first time his thoughts on tattoos clearly, saying that he will not remove them. Jungkook also affirmed that the tattoos on his hands are like a part of his past and that he will not give up his "past".

Jungkook replied, "Removing them is painful. I don't like pain. Removing them hurts, and I heard it takes a while. I understand why some people want to get them removed but...really? Because, it's something that I've wanted. That's why they remain. If I remove them, that means I am denying my past self. That past self was also me. So, I don't think removing them is the right thing (for me)."

He added that he's still willing to get rid of them if the time comes when he has to do so. But otherwise, he doesn't think “it's necessary.” That was really a convincing and confident answer from Jungkook.

After Jungkook's answer, many fans praised him. Many people have left comments such as:

- "It's his body so he can do anything"

- "I still love Jungkook"

- "I think his tattoos are really cool"

- "Since he got them because he wanted to, I don't think other people are entitled to tell him to consider removing them~ It's his individuality and style~"

- "It's not an ethical issue, so I don't think it's anyone's business to tell others what to do. That's unnecessarily crossing the boundaries."

- "Jungkook can do whatever he wants"

- "I think the problem is that the people who worry about young people getting tattoos because of him see the fans as crazily obsessed or soмєтнing. Everyone does things based on their own thoughts and Jungkook has also done the same. Nobody has any right to tell him anything. Why are even the non-fans talking about this and making a fuss..."

- "They're his tattoos, on his body, there by his own choice. Bodily autonomy: a beautiful thing!"

- "Here's my opinion: STOP TELLING IDOLS WHAT THEY SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT DO!! Let them add uniqueness to their body, let them live as freely as they want/can, let them be happy in relationships. Let them be who they are - I'm sure they already get enough crap from the companies....Just let the idols /live/."

Jungkook started publicizing his first tattoo after BTS's short vacation in 2019. Initially, it was small tattoos on his hand, then gradually formed more special tattoos on his arms, and tattoos all have their own meanings related to himself, BTS, and ARMYs.

Not only that, when the BTS members got the number 7 tattoo symbolizing their 10 years of friendship, Jungkook also added a tattoo behind his ear. As all ARMYs can see, each tattoo on his body, represents the most precious things in his life!
