j-hope was the first member to release a full-length solo album. Although most members had released mixtapes and singles in the past, Jack In The Box marks the first solo full-length album to be borne from one of the seven.
As all the BTS boys are highly supportive of each other, here’s their reaction to “More”, the first release from Jack In The Box.
RM loves being part of the process and action, while SUGA prefers respecting the process and only listening post-release. RM was shocked to hear j-hope’s new sound.
He shared that: "The first person I shared the album with … it’s always the same for me. I always share with RM first. I could have also shared it with Suga, but he likes to be very respectful of the process. He told me, “I’ll listen to it when it comes out.” He always says that to me. There’s a bit of shock and motivation that comes after hearing that. “When it gets released, I’ll look it up and listen to it then.” So I let RM hear it first … and after that was Jung Kook. For the other members, I showed them the title songs, but not the full album.
When RM heard the album, he said, “Wow, I didn’t think you’d do music like this. I have a bit of a brain freeze.” [Smiles.] “And it’s so you. The fact that you brought this music at this time.… I really respect it, and I love that it’s so you.” He gave me that feedback".
The release of j-hope's album Jack In The Box marks the first solo step in the career not only of j-hope personally but also of BTS. The members will enter chapter 2 with their own impressive solo albums.
Previously, in Vlives, other members shared that each of them spent a lot of time composing music and studying to invest in personal projects. The members also revealed that after j-hope, they are also trying to release their solo album as soon as possible.
It seems that the release and achievement of j-hope's album is also the motivation for the members to work harder for their solo album. Especially Jungkook.
In an interview, j-hope revealed that Jungkook was one of the first members of BTS to listen to his new album in its entirety before its release. After hearing what j-hope had produced, Jungkook seemed to find his new motivation and immediately focused on producing a new album.
Specifically, j-hope revealed Jungkook's reaction: "For Jung Kook, it was really funny. After hearing the album, he suddenly went to his studio. [Laughs]. I think he felt the motivation to start".
He also added that: "I love that one of our greatest motivators is one another. I’m like that myself. When one of my members is doing a certain type of music or working on an album, I see their individuality and color, and think to myself, “I have my own color, too. I want to reveal mine, too.” We influence each other positively and are good motivators to one another."
In the past, Jin said that when the members are together, they grow up healthy because when one member rests, the other member works hard making the other members feel motivated. Jungkook was the same when he saw that his brother had a really quality product.
Perhaps for Jungkook, j-hope or other BTS members influenced him a lot. Undeniably, the members are part of who Jungkook is today.
