Jin is the oldest member of BTS, but in reality, he is only a few months apart from SUGA. Nevertheless, their personalities and behaviors are quite the opposite. While SUGA tends to be quiet and reserved, Jin seems full of energy, playful, and mischievous—almost like the group’s maknae.
Yet it is precisely these differences that make them the most compatible roommates! In a letter to Jin, SUGA once wrote with deep appreciation: “To Jinjinjara/Seok-jin!! It’s your eternal roommate, SUGA.”
On the other hand, Jin once declared: “If I had to live with someone, it wouldn’t be my brother, my mom or my dad or Jungkook or any other member. I’d choose YOU,” while talking with SUGA.
Not only do they perfectly fit the role of lifelong roommates, but each of them also has soмєтнing for the other to learn from—whether it’s a habit or a talent. Jin once remarked that SUGA’s solitary nature was so overwhelming that it made him want to try living that way himself, though he felt it would be hard for him to maintain.
Jin was truly surprised by the fact that, even when not working, SUGA could relax and do absolutely nothing but sit in his room all day. It may sound easy, but Jin was so envious of this “tireless endurance” of SUGA’s that he once immediately answered in an interview, when asked what trait of SUGA’s he envied: "The ability to not get tired by staying completely still unmoving, how can he remain calm like that?"
SUGA is famous for spending endless hours in the studio creating music and new songs. But according to Jin, what’s surprising is that even after finishing work, he still stays either in the studio or at home without going out. He even relaxes by simply sitting in his room without doing any other recreational activity.
SUGA himself admitted an interesting fact: "When I'm not working, I'm usually lying down at home or inside the studio. I don't like to move or go out. I don't even like meeting people". ARMYs suspect that most of his time in the studio is spent either sleeping or scrolling his phone to watch cats.
For someone as introverted as SUGA, this habit isn’t particularly hard to understand, but Jin seems to believe that very few people can manage to “stay home all day doing nothing”—at least not him. Jin usually spends his days off going out or hanging out with friends rather than staying indoors.
That said, it’s not that Jin is incapable of doing the same—it’s just that he is “more active” than SUGA within his own space. In a conversation with fans, Jin once shared that there was a period when he spent over 10 hours a day playing video games. He even kept this routine on his off days when he had free time.
In a way, he also “copied” SUGA’s stillness by refusing to leave his gaming desk, even for meals, and sometimes even skipping showers before bed. The difference is that Jin wasn’t lying still but constantly moving his hands while entertaining himself with games.
Of course, for people as busy as Jin and SUGA, whose schedules are almost completely filled with musical activities, performances, recordings, and countless other responsibilities, private and quiet time becomes all the more precious. Those moments not only allow them to rest physically but also help them recharge, regain emotional balance, and maintain a positive spirit so they can continue dedicating themselves to their work and to their fans.
