Over more than a decade of their career, BTS have had the opportunity to work with countless renowned artists and producers both in кσяєα and internationally, creating numerous global нιтs loved by au∂ιєnces around the world. The members have also pursued many solo projects in collaboration with fellow musicians, such as RM with Younha, SUGA with IU and PSY, and Jimin with BIGBANG's Taeyang.
Interestingly, however, aside from a few special occasions—such as Jungkook and Jimin covering "We Don't Talk Anymore" during FESTA, Jin and V singing for the Hwarang soundtrack, or Jimin and V releasing "Friends," a song celebrating their friendship—the BTS members have rarely officially collaborated with one another. As a result, fans have long hoped to see more internal duos working together in the future.
Perhaps because of this, a fan once boldly asked Jimin: "If you wanted to do a single with a member, who would it be?" Without any hesitation, Jimin immediately answered, "SUGA." The fan then excitedly followed up, "What would the name be?" Once again, Jimin already had an answer prepared: "Mini Mini."

Hearing such an adorable title, fans naturally became curious about how he came up with it, and Jimin's explanation instantly left them speechless. He replied, "Because we have similar heights." Well, it was a statement that could not have been more factual—or more hilariously logical—leaving ARMY with no choice but to burst into laughter and nod in agreement.

On a more serious note, Jimin's choice of SUGA is not particularly surprising. SUGA has established himself as one of the industry's standout producers and has extensive experience collaborating with some of K-pop's top vocalists. Musically, he and Jimin share a preference for emotionally rich songs with a raw, introspective edge. At the same time, the contrast between SUGA's deep, sharp rap delivery and Jimin's soft, airy vocals creates a complementary dynamic, like two very different puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly.
Interestingly, "Mini Mini" already had what could be considered a "prototype" back in 2016—"Tony Montana," a performance that demonstrated just how exceptional their chemistry could be. The original song appeared on SUGA's Agust D mixtape in 2016 and featured rapper Yankie. However, at BTS 3rd Muster 2016, SUGA surprised fans by performing the track alongside Jimin instead. The stage, which juxtaposed SUGA's powerful rap style with Jimin's magnetic stage presence, quickly became one of the most beloved performances among ARMY.
For years afterward, fans continuously hoped that this version would receive an official release. Their wish finally came true in 2022, when "Tony Montana (with Jimin)" was included on CD3 of BTS's anthology album Proof. In August 2023, Jimin also appeared at SUGA's solo concert, D-DAY The Final in Seoul, where he performed the song live alongside him.
The musical connection between the two members did not end there. Jimin later revealed that "Set Me Free Pt.2" was inspired by SUGA. Producer Pdogg even shared that there was originally an idea for SUGA to contribute a rap verse to the song, and Jimin himself had personally asked his fellow member to participate. However, after discussions, everyone agreed that the track should remain entirely Jimin's own story, and the collaboration was ultimately set aside.
Even after all these years, fans are still hoping that the "Mini Mini" duo will officially work together on a dedicated music project in the future, expressing: "Please collab my mini mini. I can’t wait anymore", "Why their collab is not coming after these years?", "We need more than their Tony Montana", "I’ve been begging for a yoonmin collab for years", "the jimin ft prod suga collab that i completely made up in my head", "Jimin chose SUGA for the funniest reason, but the chemistry and talent are real", "Tony Montana proves they'll make an unbeatable duo", "Manifesting a Mini Mini collab in 2026", "SUGA's rap + Jimin's vocals = perfection", "They joked about "Mini Mini," and now we're still waiting for the sequel",...
