During a press conference before the BTS's concert at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Jin and HYBE representatives received many questions regarding whether BTS is exempt from mandatory military service. This is an issue that neither BTS nor HYBE can decide or answer.

Talking about this issue, according to YTN, a representative of HYBE - CCO Lee Jin Hyung asserted that the "recent transformations in the military service act over the years have made it difficult to conjecture any future changes."
He also added, "it is true how the artists [BTS] are also finding this difficult because it makes it tough to individually plan their future."
This is completely understandable because BTS as well as HYBE cannot decide in what form they will join the mandatory military service but must wait for the government's approval. However, the longer the National Assembly delays this issue, the harder it will be for BTS and HYBE to give direction to members' future.
Not only that, by the end of this year, Jin has reached the age of mandatory military service. Only more than half a year is left for the members to come up with their next direction of activities. Even if the government's decision is made too late, Jin will have to join the army as it will take at least 6 months for the law to be enforced.
Besides, many controversies and false rumors about enlistment affect BTS. After reading what the HYBE representative replied, many people felt unsatisfied with what they said.
Many people think that HYBE's answer will cause members to be misunderstood. BTS has always been ready for military service and they have never begged for an exemption.
