For Kpop artists, international awards are always the clearest proof of their influence and their music in the world. Obviously, now Kpop is no longer just within the framework of ̾k̾o̾r̾e̾a but has spread throughout Asian countries and especially Europe.
Meanwhile, the level of influence of BTS in general and Jimin in particular in the international community is at the top among Kpop artists. The achievements that Jimin achieved on international charts this year with his first solo album completely demonstrate that. But contrary to the series of achievements he has, Jimin did not even have any nominations at both the VMAs and EMAs this year.
This fact makes many fans feel unfair and they expressed their frustrated opinions around this issue on social networks:
BTS has long been known for their unprecedented musical achievements at international music awards. Except for the GRAMMYs, BTS has won most of the major music awards such as Billboard, AMAs, VMAs or EMAs,... In particular, they have won these awards many times and for many consecutive years.
This is enough to show that BTS's influence abroad is undeniable. Along with that, BTS members, when entering their solo activities, always maintain their heat and achievements on international charts. Earlier this year, Jimin made the music world explode when he became the first Kpop solo artist to reach #1 Billboard Hot 100 with Like Crazy.
Along with the release of his first solo album, Jimin also achieved many other remarkable records and achievements. Typically, Jimin reached #1 on iTunes in 100 countries and territories, debuted at first place on the global Spotify chart, marked the highest level of online sales with Like Crazy in a week, etc.
These factors make fans have high expectations that Jimin will win nominations and even awards at major music awards ceremonies like the VMAs or EMAs this year. However, fans regretted not being able to see Jimin's name and his song appear at the MTV VMAs awards ceremony in the US last September.
But this has not yet caused the fans' anger to reach its peak. It just happened after this year's MTV EMAs organizers announced a list of nominated artists without any nominations for Jimin. Accordingly, this year there are many Kpop artists nominated on the list including Jungkook with 3 nominations such as Best Song (for his smash hit “Seven” featuring Latto)/ Biggest Fans/ Best K-Pop, TXT also has 3 nominations at Best Group/ Best Push Artist/ Best K-Pop. Meanwhile, FIFTY FIFTY, NewJeans, SEVENTEEN, or Stray Kids competes in the Best Kpop Artist category, aespa is also nominated for Best Group this year, BLACKPINK is nominated for Biggest Fans....
It is inaccurate that Jimin - one of the solo Kpop artists with outstanding and impressive achievements throughout the past year - did not have any nominations in any category. Not to mention that his song is still languishing at the top of Soloist Songs on Billboard Hot 100.
This caused fans to express their frustration as the organizers seemed to lack respect for Jimin and underestimate his position. Many fans also pointed out that the organizers had cheated in choosing the names of nominated artists and distributing awards.

- people say that bc i remember some source saying #that group was nominated for best new artist @ the grammys multiple times but then bts 1st bb nominated, they weren’t even looking at those award shows and they got nominated so idk which is true
- i think usually companies are the ones that have to like submit their artist and the award show ppl do the picking and stuff but then again when bts won their 1st bbma i don’t think bh submitted them for anything
- Award shows are joke nowadays, they nominate whoever they want and getting money from . Sick industry

- The short answer is we don't know how nominees are selected and MTV can basically pick who they want to win, even in the fan voted awards.

- I was ṩḧöċḳed Yoongi and Jimin weren't nominated either time but maybe they figure they only need one BTS member there to draw the fan viewers. I'm happy at least one of them is nominated, don't get me wrong, but we know the guys have been k1lling it as solos.
- They overlooked Jimin, they forgot that greatness doesn't need validation. It's not about the nominations;it's about their inability to recognize an artist who shines brighter than their award shows ever will. The real 'DNA' of unfairness lies in their oversight,not his abilities
- What a scam!!! This is why I don’t watch any award shows bc to get a nomination fair and square doesn’t exist! Charts and numbers speak for themselves and we have all the receipts!
