BIGBANG and Jimin's Jimin and Taeyang recently released their collaboration song "VIBE" with great success. This marks Taeyang's return as a soloist after six years, as well as Jimin's first solo activity since BTS announced that they will be temporarily doing solo activities.
Therefore, ARMYs are always waiting and supporting Jimin and Taeyang enthusiastically in this project. They also hope that Jimin's first solo activity will achieve impressive milestones. However, recently, ARMYs were quite surprised to see that Jimin was not included in the credits of the song VIBE. This will affect his achievement calculation.
That's why many ARMYs have asked The Black Label to explain the matter:
It can be said that VIBE is one of the most explosive collaborations of Big Bang and BTS in early 2023. The combination of Taeyang and Jimin has surprised fans all over the world and of course, along with that, VIBE has also achieved remarkable achievements, proving the resonance of today's top Kpop artists.
Within the first 24 hours of the song's release, fans had taken it to the top of iTunes charts in several countries. Both the music video and the track also received a warm reception on other streaming platforms. In particular, it trended #1 in YouTube's trending music tab.
But before they could celebrate Jimin's achievements in the collaboration track, ARMYs noticed some technical issues on multiple streaming platforms. First, there seem to be two different versions of the song on Spotify, one where both Taeyang and Jimin are credited and one where only Taeyang is credited.
The version on which both artists are credited is distributed by Interscope Records, while the latter is distributed by YG Plus. This also means that the Taeyang-only version will not recognize Jimin's achievements for VIBE.
Second, Jimin also seems to be absent from the song credits on Melon, the largest music streaming platform in South Korea. And finally, fans note that the song is not available in many countries around the globe.
These issues, ARMYs note, have also happened to other BTS members before. j-hope and RM also do not appear in the main credits under the singles "Rush Hour" and "Sexy Nukim" on Spotify, although they are credited as collaborating artists.
However, this is the opposite of BTS. When they collaborated with other artists BTS always featured other artists in their songs, their names already in the main credits. The same issue doesn't happen with Jungkook's case on "Left & Right" with Charlie Puth.
In the case of Spotify, the platform displays artists’ names on the song’s page as per the metadata sent by the distributors. The metadata format might differ across companies, which might explain why BTS members don’t appear on the song’s main credits when they are the featuring artists versus why other artists do appear on the main credits when they feature on a BTS track.
Even so, fans don't seem to be satisfied with The Black Label's work and they are asking for a clear feedback on this case so as not to feel confused.
