The iKON Member Causes Outrage After Revealing The Reason He Chose To Diss BTS Instead Of EXO

For Kpop fans in general, diss is not a new culture among artists, especially rappers. Coming from the hip-hop world, RM and Bobby are no exception and caused a stir when they had a confrontation at the 2014 MAMA stage.

10 years later, that performance was repeated again but this time, the fans' reaction was υиєχρє¢тє∂. This stems from Bobby explaining the reason for choosing to diss BTS instead of EXO at that time. The reason he gave made many fans feel uncomfortable because they thought it was disrespectful to both artists.

Below are the circumstances as well as fans' reactions to this trending topic:

Back in 2014, fans certainly couldn't forget the stage of that year's MAMA awards ceremony. It took place 1 year after BTS debuted and was also a time when BTS had to go through a mountain of difficulties. On December 2nd, 2014, iKON's Bobby collaborated with Masta Wu to release the song "Come Here" on MAMA stage - where BTS performed 1 day later. That situation even make the situation of BTS worse.

In it he dissed RM of BTS, whose stage name at that time was Rap Monster, and the group name (Bulletproof Boy Scouts) in his rap lyrics. Specifically, Bobby wrote in his rap: "They call me a monster, I’ve never called myself that. You all are completely made of glαѕѕ, much better than the basement dungeon. If sкιℓℓ equals to looks, I’m Won Bin in front of a bulletproof glαѕѕ. If I make a нιт, I rake up all the work of the tone-deaf rappers..."

In response, RM later clarified in an interview that he was not offended by Bobby's diss rap. He took it as friendly teasing rather than anything malicious. However, at the 2014 MAMA rap battle, RM repeated Bobby's verse, sarcastically saying: "Put your guard up and follow me rapper, tone-deaf rapper...".

The notable confrontation in the past continued to become a hot topic of discussion 10 years later, when Bobby appeared on the Moneychord show on March 5. The clip taken from the show shows Bobby recounting the time he dissed RM and BTS and recalling why he chose to diss BTS rather than EXO in the 2014 song "Come Here".

The host asked Bobby how he felt about dissing RM and he replied, “At the time, people were asking, ‘Why doesn’t he dare to go after EXO?’ Truth be told, I was worried I’d get in trouble if I dissed EXO… I couldn’t afford to make more enemies.” In 2014, EXO was the top boy group to win the Daesang award and had a large fanbase while BTS was still a relatively new group. This partly explains Bobby's decision better.

Immediately, this answer of Bobby caused a stir on all social networking sites. All ARMYs were outraged when they learned that Bobby went after BTS just because EXO was a big name in 2014 while BTS was just a rookie group from a small company. Fans mentioned that RM expressed respect for Bobby but Bobby's choice to diss BTS came from the disrespect, even contempt.

Not only that, no ARMY can forget that time, when Big Hit was an almost unknown company, BTS had just debuted, burdened with huge debt and not receiving much public attention. Bobby's actions gave other fans or haters of BTS that day the momentum to вυℓℓу the members. Even RM himself admitted in BTS Beyond The Story that: "We were in the position of trying to crawl up somehow. In those days, every day was full of really upsetting, underhanded, and frustrating situations, and then in my case, that thing happened with Bobby. I was already really eager and desperate, so I was somehow dragging myself forward, and I thought I was really on the verge of a big burst, when it felt like someone came with a pin and popped a balloon."

Meanwhile, many other fans also agreed that Bobby's thoughts were inappropriate and even questioned whether he had ever thought about dissing EXO if the group was an unpopular rookie:

- mind you this man dissed joon 3 times and the third time was one day before MAMA 2014 when tannies were already going through a hard time.. also joon only had one day to prepare yet he ATE him up

- YOOOO HE CALLED HIM TONE DEAF RAPPER. Istg if i was bob I would quit immediately lmfao

- Underground rappers were scared of a 13 yr old. Like he had the AUDACITY to diss him. Joon ate him up and left no crumbs lmaoooo

- Big 3 privilege is crazy because not only did he pick on the underdog at the time but BTS were older as a group, just disrespectful and nasty

- beefing with a rookie from a small company is really loser behavior

- I bet he wished he should’ve dissed EXO

- i remember how iconic and kpopies denied whats written in bts book just for it to be true. good that this pill popper bobby and his khia group is nowhere now. acted high with their big3 privilege, it came crashing down all lol.

- This is why Armys are so protective of BTS. If the other artist deemed another artist weak. It’s so easy for them to do this sh*t. All the hate was deserved.

- So two things proved one he dissed bts ..second he was afraid of big 3 privilege... I still remember how kpoppies and his fans changed whole narrative, accused 875 and rm words in the book. They even said BTS spreading fanwars for sharing their experience.

- BTS the underdogs that u were, now they the biggest kpop artist in the world
