Rising American K-pop Singer Sparks Controversy After Publicly Shading BTS

Trisha Paytas has long been well known in the United States as a YouTuber and content creator. She began her career in Los Angeles, initially pursuing acting before launching her YouTube channel in 2007. Over the years, the influencer built a mαѕѕive following thanks to her bold personality and her tendency to create controversial content.

Recently, however, the αмєяι¢αn streamer and influencer has become a rising name within the K-pop community following her υиєχρє¢тє∂ “debut” with the кσяєαn-language track “S사랑해 Saranghae (I Love You).” The song was released on May 18 and quickly went viral across social media thanks to its K-pop-inspired sound and polished visuals. In a short amount of time, Trisha Paytas’s release attracted a huge number of views and sparked widespread discussion across online platforms.

Notably, “S사랑해 Saranghae (I Love You)” initially climbed to No. 45 before continuing to rise on the “Top K-Pop” chart. At one point, the song even surpαѕѕed several major K-pop artists, including BTS. As of now, the track has reached No. 2 on the U.S. iTunes “Top K-Pop” chart, ranking just behind “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters.

However, one of Trisha Paytas’s recent actions regarding the song’s success has now become the source of major backlash directed at her!

Specifically, on her personal Instagram account, Trisha repeatedly shared the song’s achievements and expressed excitement over the attention the release was receiving. There likely would not have been any issue if the comment sections of her posts had not been filled with fans attacking BTS despite the group having nothing to do with the situation — and if Trisha herself had not “liked” one of those comments, which read: “end BTS for us queen.”

The action immediately sparked strong backlash from BTS fans. Many argued that Trisha Paytas’s behavior came across as mocking and disrespectful toward the world’s biggest K-pop group. In addition, some netizens also brought up her past controversial statements related to ŕäċïṩṃ and her attitude toward Asians.

For example, there are videos of her saying the n-word while rapping song lyrics. Her past Ice Spice cosplay/look was also criticized for allegedly being “cultural appropriation.” Meanwhile, the streamer’s song “Leonardo DiCaprio” also drew heavy backlash for including the lyric: “You can whip me every night, just like Django” — a line many considered insensitive due to its connection to slavery and racial discrimination.

In addition, Trisha Paytas has repeatedly stirred controversy when discussing the Israel–Palestine conflict. One of her old TikTok videos sparked outrage after the influencer appeared wearing an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shirt alongside the caption: “When you take you boyfriends Israeli identity and all the comments are free Palestine – and you’re just trying to figure out where Palestine even is and why it needs to be freed.”

Her past statements and actions, combined with her recent behavior, have led many people to argue that Trisha does not deserve support from a community she had allegedly disrespected in the past. At the same time, some fans accused the singer of being “two-faced,” while others questioned whether she intentionally acted this way to attract attention and generate controversy. Currently, criticism toward the singer is spreading rapidly online:

- That's the only way people get attention, by mentioning BTS lol

- This b1tch doesn't even know what she's brought on herself. This was her. Used BTS for engagement

- Idek who this trisha person is... but for you to like hate comment os diabolical. Girl get a grip

- She’s яα¢ιѕт, zionist, maga, homophobic, etc. so im not really surprised

- Ended BTS' career with that cringey αѕѕ koreaboo song-? What-? And mind you, these are the same people who say sh1t about hooligan. If y'all are liking THAT song, you shouldn't have an opinion on hooligan or any of the songs from BTS

- And I don't get why everyone is hyping her all of a sudden??? Did we all forget that she's яα¢ιѕт, did blackface xenophobic and is just problematic over all?????

- She is problematic. I would mainly define her as an "opportunist and narcissist." You will see her change her sides according to who is famous no backbone; there is more to this; this is just a normal thing with influencers

- Nowadays singers goals aren't to create good music or hype but to overshine BTS which they will never be able to do so

- She had a moment of being "famous" but she became ancient history years ago and im guessing bills are high and she still gotta feed her kids so here she is, back on her bs

- She is a яα¢ιѕт so this doesn't surprise me at all. there was a time when she literally pretended to be black, she said she "identifies" as a black person & then there was another time when she pretended to be trans, so just know she is attention seeking problematic weirdo

- She is professional clout chaser. I will put her same category as j4mes charles and oil l00nd0n
