The City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board have officially designated September 1 through 8 as “BTS Week” as BTS holds four sold-out shows at SoFi Stadium on September 1, 2, 5, and 6 as part of “BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’”. Meanwhile, the BTS members are busy preparing for this consecutive run of performances after just completing two memorable shows in Chicago a few days ago.
Another notable point about this Los Angeles stop is that it coincides with Jungkook’s birthday. According to кσяєαn time, fans around the world are celebrating the day BTS’ youngest member was born, and Jungkook himself also went live today to celebrate his birthday with fans. He appeared in a simple look, wearing a sweater from his newly released CKJK collection, sharing some stories about his recent life as well as opening up about a few heartfelt thoughts.
In particular, while talking about his birthday, Jungkook excitedly told fans how the members had prepared a surprise that even he did not think he would get to have on his special day!
Specifically, Jungkook mentioned that at first, he thought he would not be able to have birthday cake and miyeokguk - seαωєed soup - two dishes that are almost indispensable in кσяєαn birthday traditions - according to кσяєαn time on his birthday. Jungkook’s αѕѕumption was understandable, as they are currently in the US and all the BTS members have been extremely busy traveling and preparing for performances in different cities one after another.
However, things turned out completely differently from what he had imagined. Jungkook said that he went out to eat at a restaurant with his two older members, j-hope and V, and they had prepared both a birthday cake and miyeokguk for him. “So I was able to blow out the candles and enjoy the seαωєed soup after all,” Jungkook said happily. He also did not forget to compliment the restaurant’s chef afterward: “The chef-nim has great sense,” showing just how much he enjoyed the thoughtful surprise the members had prepared for him.
Jungkook’s story was also brought to life through a video that j-hope posted on Instagram before the livestream, capturing a moment when he, V, and Jungkook had a meal together at an omakase-style restaurant. When the birthday cake with lit candles was brought out, the two older members immediately clapped and sang “Happy Birthday” to Jungkook in кσяєαn, while Jungkook happily blew out the candles. It was a simple yet heartwarming moment that made the youngest member’s birthday all the more special amid their busy world tour schedule.
In addition to sharing how happy he was about the surprise the BTS members had prepared for him on his birthday, Jungkook was also incredibly sweet as he thanked his parents - the people who gave him his life - as well as his fans, who helped make him the superstar Jungkook he is today. He also came to an amusing conclusion: “Anyway, it's my birthday, I'm doing a concert.. I'm going to work even harder.. since it's my birthday. It doesn't mean I wouldn't work as hard in other concerts, just.. since it's my birthday. If you think about it, it's just a day I was born,” which had fans chuckling.
Although he is celebrating his birthday far from home and has also been extremely busy with his tour schedule lately, fans cannot help but feel relieved knowing that the BTS members were by his side and quietly fulfilled his heartfelt birthday wish.
