j-hope Opens Up About 2 Lies To His Parents That He Regrets — ARMYs Respond With Sympathy & Love

In many Asian countries, especially South кσяєα, parents often have a profound influence on their children’s lives and futures, particularly in areas such as education and career, personal life, and finances.

However, this relationship is not always one-sided. Many children choose to resist, or even lie to their parents, in order to pursue their own desires, despite still facing heavy family pressure.

These decisions often lead to two possible outcomes: One is disaster — a difficult life filled with regret after a wrong choice. The other is finding their own path and opening the door to a bright future.

Some BTS members also once stood between parental opposition and their dreams of becoming idols. Yet they represent the second outcome — success, becoming world-clαѕѕ K-pop superstars admired by millions, and ultimately bringing pride and reward to their parents.

Still, before they could prove that their determination and decisions were right, they also made what seemed like “wrong choices.” Looking back, j-hope regrets the two times he lied to his parents just to hold on to his dream. But I’m sure that anyone who hears his story would feel these were reluctant lies, born out of circumstance, and sympathize with him even more.

The first time he lied was before becoming a Big Hit trainee. With his lifelong pαѕѕion for dance, j-hope decided to pursue a professional career in dancing, but immediately faced strong opposition from his father — a literature teacher — who believed it was an uncertain and risky future.

To hide his continued pursuit of dance, he told his father he was going to study, when in fact he was attending dance clαѕѕes or practicing in studios. He also spent most of his time in his room watching dance videos and practicing instead of doing schoolwork. But his deception didn’t last long.

“When I was younger and really into dancing, it happened to be my exam period. I would pretend to study in my room, but I was actually watching dance videos” he said. He continued: "I was working really hard on pretending to study and watching dance videos when my dad suddenly came into my room. At the time, I was so surprised. My dad sighed deeply and just left. I remember this memory vividly."

His father’s reaction made j-hope feel guilty for not being honest about what he was doing. Fortunately, not long after, his persistence in chasing his dream began to soften his father’s stance, leading him to support his son’s path in dance.

j-hope recalled, “That’s why I once danced in front of my dad with no music. He told me to dance for him so I poured out my pαѕѕion by dancing without any music or noise. The only sound you could hear was the sound of my clothing and my breathing. There was a time like that".

Besides this, during his trainee days, j-hope also lied to his parents about how he was really doing. Whenever his mother called to ask about his health, he would always say he was fine, even though he was exhausted, scared, and sometimes depressed by the harsh trainee life. He didn’t want his parents to worry. That’s a memory he says he can never forget too.

Similar to his earlier lie, this too was a wнιтe lie, told only to reαѕѕure his parents. He always thought of others’ feelings before speaking honestly about his own struggles. True to his stage name “Hope,” Hoseok always wanted to bring brightness to those around him, even if it was difficult for himself.

The stories j-hope shared brought many fans to tears, thinking of the hardships he endured and the sorrows he kept to himself. But now, with his mαѕѕive success both with BTS and as a solo artist, he has been more than rewarded for those hard years — and has given his parents every reason to be proud.
