Fans Protect Jin Against Malicious Comments About His Age

Jin will release his second mini-album 'Echo' worldwide on the 16th of next month. The album consists of seven songs based on the band's music, depicting various moments in life that spread like 'echoes' in various forms.

On the 23rd of this month, as part of the promotion for the new album, some of Jin's concept photos before the comeback were posted on BTS's official SNS.

Jin's photos immediately went viral on social media with a completely different style than before. In the photos, Jin shows off a youthful and romantic look, reminiscent of a rock singer.

He also shows a big change in appearance such as long black hair with wнιтe highlights on the bangs. On the face of "Worldwide Handsome" there is a red scar on the nose, eyebrows. Colorful designed nails also attract attention.

While fans were excited to see Jin's new look and praised his surprising style, others were negative and ageist.

At 32 years old, netizens felt that he was too old to pull off the concept, with some malicious comments targeting Jin's age and appearance. "Doing Emo concept at 34, nigga go start a family or soмєтнing", a netizen commented about Jin's latest photos.

There are still many toxic comments like: "He looks like someone who is in his 50s but trying hard to look like 25 still looking like over 40", "HE’S ALMOST TAYLOR’S AGE????? The difference is he's flop", "doing rockstar concept at 40 is soмєтнing...",...

In response to these malicious comments, fans and netizens were quick to defend Jin, explaining that his age is not old and that it is normal. They also pointed out how hypocritical some of the public are when they criticize underage debuts while also claiming that some idols are too old.

Fans made a number of comments showing how supportive they are of the oldest member's boldness:

- So all idols should be 14? Ugh you're so pathetic

- How did you manage to age shame and disrespect music in the same line, but then again if you got a whole account to hate on people i suppose you must be pretty unemployed to sharpen those sкιℓℓs

- K-pop debuts minors because fans care more about looks than artistry. Idols burn out by 25 and when someone like Jin stays bold at 30, he’s suddenly too old? Outside the K-pop bubble, no one takes these takes on music seriously

- Complaining about minors debuting. Age shaming idols when they aren't even 30. This is why K-pop is going downwards

- This is why K-pop agencies be debuting younger and younger idols, they’re looking to get as much utility and popularity out of them as possible before people like you start calling them geriatric at age 30.

- this is why kpop companies keep debuting minors coz the moment an artist turns over 25 y'all start age shaming them

- am i the only one who sees absolutely nothing wrong with this.. or am I just western.. cause 30 year old rock members is pretty ∂αми normalized over here

- y’all got me defending a bts member holy sh*t! saying: “doing rockstar concept at 40 is soмєтнing” MOST ROCKSTARS RN ARE IN THEIR 60s

- It's a generation thing. I became a KPOP fan in 2012 and there were people of all ages participating in forums and stuff, never was age an issue back then. IDK what is causing gen z to be so ageist but it's gonna backfire real bad when they get older.

- Kpop fans once again showing their hypocrisy. They complain about companies debuting minors but will hate on anyone in the industry who’s older than 25, it’s so weird and I genuinely don’t understand it.
