Although he is a global idol, Jungkook is known for his introverted personality and for not having too many celebrity friends in the industry. In many interviews, he has also pointed out that he tends to keep a close, selective circle of friends, and his meaningful relationships are usually long-lasting and built on strong trust.
On the other hand, Jungkook prefers to keep his private life and friendships low-profile rather than flaunting them to the public. That is why fans mostly only know about his famous “’97-line” squad, which includes top K-pop idols born in 1997 such as Seventeen’s Mingyu, ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo, and NCT’s Jaehyun.
Few fans know that aside from his friendships with these handsome idols, Jungkook also shares a close bond with one of the most prominent K-drama actors — Yeo Jin Goo, who happens to be the same age as him.
Fans first discovered Jungkook and Yeo Jin Goo’s friendship when BTS’s Golden Maknae sent a snack/coffee truck to the filming site of Hotel del Luna to cheer on the actor with a message that read: “I will cheer on ‘Hotel del Luna.’ From Jin Goo’s friend, JUNGKOOK.”
Later, Yeo Jin Goo also sent a coffee truck to support Jungkook at BTS’s fan meeting venue in Busan. The actor bought hotdogs — Jungkook’s favorite food — and delivered them with a sweet note: “Have a cool day full of happy memories! -Jungkook’s friend, Jin Goo-.”
They have occasionally mentioned each other in interviews, but usually without revealing too much about this “hidden” friendship, which has sparked fans’ curiosity about how it began and what they have in common. Fortunately, there came a time when Yeo Jin Goo felt comfortable enough to open up more deeply about his friendship with Jungkook, answering many of those questions.
Specifically, when asked in an interview, "I hear that you’re friends with BTS’s Jungkook?", Yeo Jin Goo candidly replied: "Yeah, I’ve begun making friends in the same field. Jungkook is actually a friend of a friend. And that friend isn’t from the entertainment business… But that’s how I was introduced to Jungkook. Through soccer."
He continued: "When I realized that he and I are the same age, I kind of opened up to him really quickly. For some reason, I’ve never had any actor friends who are my age… So I’ve always wondered what it would feel like to have that kind of friend."
Yeo Jin Goo also pointed out that he and Jungkook get along well because of their similar personalities and shared interests. He said: "As for Jungkook and I, we get along pretty well because we share similar personalities. A lot of the time, we hang out at cafes."
In another interview after completing the drama The Crowned Clown, Yeo Jin Goo mentioned that despite his busy schedule, he still makes time to meet friends — including Jungkook and Park Bo Gum.
At the same time, the actor explained that when they first became friends, Jungkook was already a “superstar” — and has only become even bigger since then — so he has to be careful when bringing up their friendship to avoid any unnecessary trouble for either of them. Fans have understood this decision and respect them even more for it.
Although rare glimpses into their private moments exist, even through a few words or gestures, it is clear that their friendship is rooted in resonance and mutual support in every aspect of life. Their bond may be quiet, but it is deeply precious — and fans can’t help but feel moved by the genuine care they show for each other.
