So after a while of waiting and looking forward, Jin's MV "The Astronaut" was also released. As expected, the song made all ARMYs seem to fall for its meaning.
Not only that, but ARMY also found many emotional details that Jin included in his MV. It shows love and many great messages that he wants to say about ARMYs.
Read it below with a towel, we won't be responsible for your tears:
The Astronaut was Jin's first song when he debuted as a solo artist, but it was also his last before Jin's enlistment. Because of its meaning, ARMYs were extremely eager to hear the tunes from it.
Not only that, because Coldplay and Jin's Chris Martin once mentioned that the song was composed based on his energetic love for the fans as well as for the group, it moved ARMY even more. Finally, we get to see what comes from Jin's heart in this special song.
Throughout the MV, there are many details that Jin skillfully uses and it really shows the love and messages he wants to send to ARMY. First of all, The Astronaut offers a story about Kim Seokjin, who is from another planet, having his UFO crashing, landed here on Earth. He saw on the news that "A mysterious beam of light was spotted" (UFO). Seems like they wanted to get him back but he stayed here instead on Earth.
He was given the chance to leave to the home on Earth and came back to the place he used to dream about. But Seokjin chooses to stay instead. “And i love you...” because he was lost in a house on this earth that didn’t feel like his but being able to leave made him realise home is not a place anymore. It’s the people he loved. Jin chose to stay because of the people he loved. He wasn’t trapped, he wasn’t forced to stick to this earth because his spaceship crashed, he could have left if he wanted to but he stayed. Love as something that makes you grounded. Love as home.
It's like how he wants to show that the place where ARMY is is his home. Even when the lyric of this song also showed it: “I got heaven to myself when i’m with you”, “a life a sparkle in your eyes, heaven coming through and I love you” and that’s why he stayed. it’s a “home is where love is and love is where you are”
To talk about this plot, the little girl in the purple hat plays a pivotal role. This baby seems to represent ARMY - who have been with him for nearly a decade. We couldn’t help but think that the little girl in the purple helmet represented ARMYs because the scene where Jin helped her learn how to ride the bike and then pushed her on her way reminded us of how Jin has always advocated for our love and happiness in life.
The child's mood when he saw Jin about to leave earth was the same as ARMY's when he heard the news that Jin was about to enlist: full of curiosity, anxiety and of course a little sadness but also pride. That look made Jin not want to leave even though the opportunity only came once.
Moreover, at the end of the video, we can hear the bike bell ring and the girl reunited with Seokjin. It also means that ARMYs will always reunite with Bangtan.
Not only that, there are also letters and characters in the MV of The Astronaut that make ARMY extremely emotional. The easiest to spot are the words that appear in Jin's crossword game: ASTRONAUT , ARMY , FAMILY , STAR , MOON , COZY.
Specificially, when Jin wrote family on the crossword puzzle and looked straight into the camera and smiled, it made our heart warm and hurt at the same time. And the way he puts AMI among FAMILY is what he said that we are his family.
In addition, Jin also used the braille alphabet for the blind to draw on his neck. These letters in the braille alphabet are translated as ARMY - it shows that he was always thinking about ARMY during the process of conceptualizing and making the MV.
Jin really knows how to take the tears and make ARMYs emotional. Other than streaming and supporting his music video, there's probably no better way to respond to what he's done for us!
