It is safe to bet that a large portion of the global ARMY fandom consists of long-time fans who have followed BTS since their debut and have never missed a single piece of content related to the group. A decade-long bond between fans and their idols is hardly any different from accompanying a close friend, a family member, or even a romantic partner—one naturally comes to know the other person’s habits, personality traits, and preferences inside out.
Meanwhile, BTS have long been known as some of the most sincere and honest idols in the industry, never hesitating to show their true selves to fans. A newly debuted idol might be able to conceal certain sides of themselves, but for K-pop superstars who have been active for over ten years, hiding anything becomes extremely difficult. In fact, the BTS members have repeatedly exposed each other’s bad habits themselves or acted completely silly in front of fans, making it seem as though there is almost nothing left that hasn’t already been revealed.
For this reason, veteran ARMYs naturally believed that they had already grasped nearly every aspect of the members’ personalities—until RM pointed out that this was actually a major misconception, leaving fans genuinely stunned.
Specifically, during an interview with TWIST magazine, the BTS members were asked, “Can you share a fun fact about one of your other band members that you don’t think even the most dedicated fans will know?” Without hesitation, RM dropped one of the most surprising revelations: “Many people think that SUGA is like the Grandfather of the group, but he acts more like a little kid. Jimin is the opposite, he looks like a baby but inside he’s mature and like a Grandfather.”

RM’s comments immediately caught fans off guard! Not only did he seem to understand ARMY’s perceptions perfectly, but he also demonstrated just how deeply he knows his fellow members.
In reality, fans have long viewed SUGA as a mature man due to his quiet, reserved, and serious demeanor most of the time. Jimin, meanwhile, is famously nicknamed “the baby” of the group thanks to his petite frame, adorable personality, and playful interactions with the younger members. However, according to RM, these fan-made assumptions are not entirely accurate—if anything, they are quite the opposite. Within the group, SUGA often shows his childlike side, while Jimin is far more mature than people typically assume.
After RM’s remarks, fans began revisiting past moments involving the duo and realized that they may indeed have misunderstood them. In behind-the-scenes footage and variety shows such as Run BTS and BTS In The Soop, SUGA frequently turns into a mischievous child—enthusiastically joining in on jokes and teasing Jin just like the younger members do. The legendary sauna games and moments of him diligently applying moisturizer further highlight his playful nature.
With a closer look, fans will also notice that BTS’s second-oldest member is known for a series of endearing little habits—scrunching his nose, doing small hand dances, or making expressive facial reactions whenever he likes something—earning him comparisons to a “little cat.” At times, SUGA’s dry sense of humor also comes through, leaving both members and staff laughing helplessly.

Jimin, on the other hand, has repeatedly been praised by the BTS members for his maturity. RM once admitted, “Although he is younger than me, he is very mature. I guess you could say that mentally, he is very mature. I am always ѕнσ¢кed at his word choices and the way he talks. He is very personable and I receive healing when I am with him.”
j-hope echoed a similar sentiment: “Although he is younger than me, he really has the charisma of a hyung. He really has a big plate, and as big as that plate is, he can accommodate so much. Truthfully, his willingness was what I am most thankful for. He played a big role in relieving my stress.”
It is also worth noting that Jimin is the eldest son in a family that places great importance on tradition, meaning he learned the responsibilities, rules, and rituals of a family’s pillar from an early age. Perhaps influenced by this upbringing, Jimin tends to value family, close relationships, and approaches life with a mature, thoughtful, and deep perspective.

That said, while neither SUGA nor Jimin ever intentionally hides these traits, they do not always stand out clearly. Instead, they reveal themselves in subtle moments that fans may overlook—until the members themselves point them out.
Once these truths came to light, fans couldn’t help but remark that only the BTS members truly understand one another on the deepest level. Many were also delighted that RM highlighted distinctive personality traits of SUGA and Jimin that most fans had previously failed to notice. Now, fans are eagerly hoping that even more hidden sides of the members will be revealed in the future—so they can compare them with their own long-held impressions.
