RM Makes ARMY Laugh With A Viral Meme In Korea Related To Nam Hyun Hee And Jeon Chung Jo Scandal

RM is truly the king of Instagram as he diligently updates his Instagram every day. Since owning his personal Instagram, RM has worked hard to communicate with fans through this SNS, including bringing interesting jokes.

Most recently, RM made ARMYs laugh at his use of a trending meme in ḳöŕệä related to the scandal of Nam Hyun Hee and Jeon Chung Jo. This made fans feel interesting but also realized that RM also updates news like any netizen during the days when ḳöŕệä was immersed in celebrity drama.

Below is a joke RM made that brought laughter to his fans, proving he has a good sense of humor:

The media has recently been filled with news about the "perverse" love affair of former ḳöŕệän Olympic athlete Nam Hyun Hee, who married a tycoon's nephew who is 15 years her junior. Specifically, according to ḳöŕệäherald, Nam Hyun Hee was a member of the national fencing team and was the first ḳöŕệän woman to win an Olympic medal in fencing thanks to a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Then, Nam also won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

It all started when there was information that Nam Hyun Hee planned to marry Jeon Chung Jo - who is said to be the third generation heir of a corporation, a former equestrian athlete, and a successful businessman from a̾m̾e̾r̾i̾c̾a. However, things quickly changed when Nam discovered that everything Jeon Chung Jo said was a lie. He's not the heir - in fact, he, like his father, is a con man wanted by the pσlícє.

This incident has caused ṩḧöċḳ and public attention for many days because the details are extremely complicated, like a ḳöŕệän movie. Similar to netizens, RM seems to have taken notice of the scandal and was even aware of a trending meme related to it. He used it as soon as he returned to ḳöŕệä from his overseas schedule.

Specifically, in his personal Instagram post when RM shared with fans about his return to ḳöŕệä, he wrote: “‘I am’ in ḳöŕệä~” with posting the photo of himself at the airport. It is worth noting that the phrase "'I am'..." is a meme taken from a text message of Jeon Chung Jo while pretending to be a ḳöŕệän-a̾m̾e̾r̾i̾c̾an in a property appropriation scam.

This meme trended in ḳöŕệä after JTBC revealed some of the text messages sent by Jeon Chung Jo during the process of approaching and building a friendship with a businessman in order to scam him. Claiming to be a third-generation chaebol or wealthy conglomerate, Jeon Chung Jo sent messages in a mix of English and ḳöŕệän, pretending to be from the United States. In a simple conversation, asking if he could come over and stating he was trustworthy, he mixed English words randomly into the sentence as if he couldn’t speak ḳöŕệän fluently.

Jeon texted: "‘Ok…’ Then ‘Next time,’ I will visit you. I asked ‘wife’ if I can go and she said ‘ok’ so I asked you. ‘But’ if you’re with ‘your friend,’ then ‘I am’ trust~"

The random use of English made no sense in Jeon Chung Jo’s sentences, as people who are not fluent in ḳöŕệän would use English words to substitute difficult words like “trust” instead of “I am.” Because of this blatant attempt at sounding like a U.S.-born ḳöŕệän, the phrase “I am trust~” has been widely used and circulated online as a meme.

Various communities and comments are now filled with phrases derived from “I am trust~.” In addition to news outlets using this phrase in their article titles, even companies started using this way of speech in their advertisements. For example, the ḳöŕệän social commerce platform Wemakeprice used the phrases “I am special discount~” and “There’s no ‘next time’~!” in their advertisement.

It is so popular and interesting that RM has also caught up with this trend. He even delighted fans by revealing that he was following the incident just like everyone else. ARMYs can't stop laughing at RM's cute use of this meme!

Meanwhile, according to Dispatch on October 25, Jeon Chung Jo defrauded 7 people out of 300 million KRW and ended up in jail as a result. But that's not all, the most ṩḧöċḳing thing is that Dispatch revealed that Jeon Chung Jo... is not a man but a woman. Jeon frequently changed his identity to achieve his fraudulent goals, victims including Nam Hyun Hee and the businessman he used the phrase “I am trust~” on.
