NewJeans Fandom Gets Issue And Apologizes BTS Fandom After Being Exposed Of Unauthorized Copying

New Jeans and BTS are two groups managed by HYBE and therefore fans of the two groups always support their idols peacefully. Recently, however, a big controversy has begun to arise regarding the New Jeans fandom being accused of copying the "creative" of BTS's fandom.

The incident quickly developed to the point where the kσrєαn media reported on the incident. Soon after, the fandom of New Jeans also had an official response to this incident. More specifically, they also have to bear the consequences after performing illєgαl copying.

Here's the full story of what happened between the two fandoms, and it seems that the story is still ongoing:

Recently, New Jeans is preparing for a comeback with the 2nd mini album "Get Up". Like most idol fan groups, the group's fans are also gearing up for a quick and efficient increase in streaming on the streaming platform, Melon, to bring good results to the group's song.

One of the projects New Jeans fans worked on in preparation for the group's comeback was using a streaming API website designed by their streaming team. A streaming API is a type of application programming interface, or a way for two or more computer programs to communicate with each other for specific services. In both cases, the websites first provide specific directions for how users can fill out information that will allow them to quickly stream songs on Melon, add cash to one's Melon account, and also gift streams to others with the click of a button.

However, it wouldn't lead to a major controversy had it not been for BTS fans to discover that the NewJeans streaming team was using a streaming API designed by BTS streaming team without their permission. The BTS fandom quickly discovered that the New Jeans streaming team's website was designed exactly like the 52hz.kr website - a BTS streaming site (aka ARMY52Hz).

It turns out, the API used by 52hz.kr to connect Galaxy and/or iPhone users to the Melon app for services such as fast and convenient reloading of cash, etc, was invented by BTS fans for the purpose of contributing to Melon streams. This site was created by BTS fans with their own creativity and is unlike any other.

Not only that, since the BTS fandom created it, many fans of other K-Pop groups have also "stealed" these features for use on a smaller scale. But with this incident of New Jeans fandom with a more serious degree, BTS's streaming team decided to speak out about the fact that the entire design of the group's website was illєgαlly copied.

This issue quickly became a hotly debated topic in various online communities. New Jeans' streaming team also received a lot of criticism after BTS's streaming team presented a lot of real evidence to show the opponent's wrongdoing of intellectual copying.

As the issue became a heated topic of debate on various online communities, NewJeans's streaming team eventually released a statement of apology, recognizing the controversy. The streaming team confirmed that the new website "referenced the single-click streaming link used on the website run by BTS's 52Hz streaming information team", and that the team "did not realize this would be a problem, as it was believed that the instructions, the single-click link, the API, and the gifting feature were preexisting capabilities provided by Melon."

The statement concluded by conveying, "We sincerely apologize and are reflecting on our actions. In order to prevent further damage and misunderstanding, the existing NewJeans streaming team will be dissolved, and we are currently in the process of discussing how collected donations will be returned."

About this controversy, netizens also left many comments:

- Ooops, that was a bit obvious, if you're going to steal someone's code, you need to be a bit more discreet than copying an entire website wholesale (or at least ask for permission first).

- Personally I think Armys streaming team have the right to speak up! It's their own efforts....at least they should ask for permission or even mention their credits so it won't be considered as a stealing or copying other's effort

- i mean i would understand having the same features if it's a more generic one, but apparently the army website's direct links for streaming and melon cash system is one of a kind. according to a few korean armys, what they did was illєgαl (though bts' stream team came out saying they don't want this to be dragged out and tried to offer help towards the nj's stream team). and even after all that, they still badmouthed armys and bts on their discord server after they got called out and caused people to accuse hybe of being involved in streaming teams of their artists. just an unnecessary mess during new jeans' comeback caused by their own fans.

- The scheme is created by army for BTS. NewJeans used it without permission thinking "nothing is wrong with it"

- They knew their mistake fast and apologised, all is good

- I think NewJeans IT team should ask for official permission again. The public attention slash humiliation they received is correct and rightful punishment and they published an apology without resistance either. Although it is sensible for NewJeans tech team to abolish, in the end, the website is for the benefit of the girls and the fans, and NewJeans girl group is under the same company as BTS. In the end, NewJeans is like family and BTS is like their godfathers; it shouldn't be difficult to give them permission to use 52Hz code like this when its for the benefit of their dongsaengs.
