Jungkook Opens Up About The Shocking Betrayal By Someone He Trusted That Left Him Severely Traumatized

Relationships in life are inherently complex, but in the entertainment industry, that complexity multiplies with layers of competition, suspicion, and artificiality. This is also why BTS are highly regarded as a moral role model in the industry—because maintaining purity, politeness, and kindness for over a decade in such a fiercely competitive environment is extremely rare.

However, possessing good qualities—whether as a group like BTS or as an individual like Jungkook—does not mean everyone around them shares the same values. In reality, the members of BTS themselves have experienced multiple instances where their kindness and trust toward colleagues were betrayed.

Most recently, V was reportedly unaware that former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin had used his private messages as evidence in her lawsuit against HYBE. It was only after the media reported the issue that V expressed his ѕнσ¢к, stating: “I find it very distressing and baffling that these conversations were submitted as evidence without my consent.”

Another notable example is Lee Byung Eun, HYBE’s Performance Director and a long-time dance trainer for BTS, who was arrested for exploiting the group’s reputation for personal gain over a span of 10 years. Jimin also became a victim of friendship exploitation when he generously lent comedian Lee Jin Ho 100 million won in 2022, unaware that the money would be used for online gambling and that the borrower had no intention—or ability—to repay it.

More strikingly, even BTS’s youngest member, Jungkook, has experienced similar situations. In an interview, he admitted that his first experience of betrayal left him struggling with psychological scars in the years that followed.

He began by saying that certain aspects of his personality have not changed: "I was warmhearted and trusting as a child, and I still am". He then expressed that he is always ready to give love to those who value it and to treat anyone kindly, without suspicion. However, because of this innocence and kindness, he was taken advantage of—even by someone who had once been very close to him. Though he did not disclose specific details of the betrayal, he described the initial difficulty of facing a situation where “they broke my heart.”

The experience of being deceived by someone he once considered a friend had a profound impact on him mentally. His personality changed in many ways, but it also taught him a valuable lesson in maturity: to protect himself and to be more cautious in relationships.

Jungkook shared, “I give my all to those I love". He added, “My groupmates all acknowledge this,” Jungkook continued. “Sometimes, I worry about what’s going to happen, but I’m lucky enough to have my groupmates beside me, which is reäṩṩuring. But if I depended on them too much, it would be like hiding behind them, so I need to be able to stand on my own.”

Hearing Jungkook’s words, fans felt deeply saddened by what he had endured in the past. At the same time, they found it understandable—because not everyone is sincere enough to treat him the way the BTS members do, especially when the idols are at the peak of global fame in the K-pop industry.

Fortunately, through these experiences, Jungkook broadened his perspective, learned to recognize who truly matters—those who treat him well—and adjusted his mindset and behavior accordingly. Most importantly, despite the emotional ѕнσ¢к, he managed to retain his sincerity and continued to place his heart in the right place.
