In a general sense, the word “idol” refers to someone you truly like, respect, and look up to as a role model—whether for their talent, personality, lifestyle, perseverance, or other admirable qualities. An “idol” can be anyone, from close family members such as parents, to peers, or even great historical figures. In K-pop, the term is used to describe entertainment artists whose images are carefully built to attract and engage fans. Still, at its core, the meaning of “idol” essentially includes the broader definition above.
Although not every K-pop idol is ideal enough to be a true “idol” in the role-model sense, K-pop idols have increasingly been evolving in a more positive direction. More and more, they earn people’s admiration and long-term support through their own talent, character, and careers. BTS is one of the rare K-pop acts that truly embo∂ιєs what it means to be an idol, consistently serving as an ideal role model for ARMY.

However, being an idol does not mean being “absolutely perfect,” because no one is without flaws—and BTS is no exception. In fact, ARMY respects BTS even more because they are always willing to acknowledge their weaknesses and are not afraid to reveal moments of vulnerability. It is precisely in those moments that idols feel even more real—and, in turn, even more admirable.
That is also why Jungkook did not hesitate to call out one of SUGA’s bad habits right in front of fans. This habit stems from the way he communicates in certain moments. While fans around the world found it entertaining, Jungkook argued that ARMY had been negatively influenced by this habit and tried to stop fans from continuing it.
Specifically, during a livestream, Jungkook noticed that some ARMYs had a habit of commenting the word “sibal” in кσяєαn, which is a profanity. This left him both confused and amused by their blunt remarks.
The funniest part was that he then blamed SUGA for making even international fans overuse this sensitive word. He quickly said, "I didn’t use sw3ar words, I wrote s-word (S*bal) in ḳöŕệän. You wrote that in English. Oh that’s so funny. It’s because of Yoongi hyung. That’s right, Yoongi hyung. Yoongi hyung did it."

Jungkook blamed SUGA for “setting an example” by swearing during many BTS performances, and even during his past solo concerts. Yet the humorous irony is that whenever SUGA shouted the swear word, fans around the world often got even more excited than the artist himself. They would spread those moments rapidly online and endlessly praise how cool BTS’s rapper looked.
So in reality, it was not entirely SUGA’s fault! Moreover, ARMYs defended themselves by saying they were not using the profanity to attack anyone, but simply as a humorous habit or a way of expressing extreme excitement. Still, after Jungkook’s reminder, ARMYs also became more aware that they should not overuse the word “s.” Even if it is not used with bad intentions, it is still a vulgar word, and fans should learn to use it wisely.
Meanwhile, Jungkook’s comment was not meant to criticize SUGA. Rather, it was simply part of his endless habit of teasing his older brother, as he knew SUGA would never scold the group’s youngest member. Fans shared amusing reactions after this moment was circulated:
- NO S-WORD LMAOO JUNGKOOK
- when Jungkook said s-word i felt so proud bc when i was learning english some time ago i saw ppl saying "l-word" and such, and i didn't understand what it was until someone told me abt it and idk, i just felt proud of him
- okay, shibal joke used to be funny, but it's not anymore. please stop, he has said it many times, take a hint. remember that it is still a profanity, even if not directed to him, you ARE still sw3aring on the comments jungkook reads.
- I don't normally post stuff like this because the only people who engage with me here are chill, lovely humans...but if you are someone who thinks this is funny, please reevaluate your ability to respect boundaries. You are likely also causing harm to people in your personal life
- just because one member is okay with us yelling a ċüŕṩệ word in his presence, does not mean every member is.
- armys should be more careful with the way they talk to him
- Not Him spelling SHIBAL for us to not say it. !! Too late lmao
- yall need to let this joke go already
- It’s embarrαѕѕing how every time y’all overdo a joke and they need to stop us
- and seriously, when a bts member says not to do or say soмєтнing DON'T. It's not a joke, it's crossing boundaries.
