Since 2022 when the news of BTS's group hiatus broke until now, the solo careers of the members have been in the spotlight, ushering in a new era. With Jin's release of "Happy", fans have been treated to the music of 7 different artists.

For Jin and perhaps the other members of BTS, they enjoy being independent but cherish being a group more than ever. Speaking about BTS as a solo member, Jin shared his deep, touching thoughts on this.

In the definition of most fans around the world, BTS is more of a symbol of a group than of individuals. However, BTS's success would not be as magnificent as it is today if the seven people behind it were not as interesting as a whole. The BTS name and each of the group’s seven members are closely linked.

While the members spent the first 10 years of their career as a cohesive unit, in their second chapter, BTS has encouraged each member to develop their own artistry. They have all released solo albums that showcase their talents, from Jack In The Box, Indigo, D-Day, Face, Layover, Golden to Happy.

With a simple yet profound title, Happy is the debut album of Jin — the seventh and final BTS member to release a full solo project. Through the album, Jin makes a statement about his creative journey and the importance of his fans to him along the way.

“Putting the album together has allowed me to pause and reflect on just how much ARMY means to me,” Jin tells Billboard. “As I worked on each track, I thought about what I wanted to convey to them, how I want to bring joy and happiness to them, while also expressing how much I missed them during our time apart.”

Moreover, while releasing his solo album, Jin enjoyed the process while realizing what BTS means to him. Now, as a solo artist, he affirmed that: “The only band I, now and forever, will be part of is BTS. Band music is a genre I’m personally interested in, and I enjoy exploring different styles as a solo artist. But at the end of the day, my roots and connection to music will always be with BTS.”

His statement made fans even more emotional amid the anticipation of BTS's reunion. Jin is not the first member to talk about how each member of the group enjoys making their own music or doing individual activities during this period. Before Jin, other solo members also agreed with that feeling. However, in the end, all 7 members concluded that they were happier working as a group - BTS 7.
