j-hope Reveals Why BTS Can’t Live Together Like They Used To

A few hours ago, j-hope held a livestream with fans after returning from his private schedule in Dubai. He shared some interesting things about his recent life, including revealing his attendance at a VIP event for Audemars Piguet and his collaboration with HUMAN MADE.

Meanwhile, j-hope also mentioned that his personal activities for November had been wrapped up, and that once December arrives, it will be the time he dedicates to BTS’s group activities. He expressed, “Still, the big things I mentioned for November are going smoothly. Ah, and there’s nothing for December, haha. I’ll say it confidently: there’s nothing in December for me! I’m preparing for BTS in December. Please understand it that way — if there’s nothing, I have to say there’s nothing. In December, I’m preparing for BTS, and I’ll be dancing hard.”

Recently, the BTS members were also reported to have finished recording for their new album and are now entering the choreography practice stage. Before the livestream, j-hope had already been practicing with the members, and a photo RM posted on Instagram Story capturing the dance practice room at HYBE headquarters also proves it.

Fans clearly love it most when BTS return to group activities, as the members have done so for an entire decade. Especially when BTS talked about living together in their creative camp in the U.S. for two months, fans felt as if the early-debut days had returned. Many fans enjoy seeing the members live together because it is genuinely fun and heartwarming.

Because of that, an ARMY asked j-hope: “I wonder if BTS will get together and live in a house again?” j-hope then honestly revealed the truth: “Sharing a house… Our youngest is 30 now. We're in our thirties and beyond… Seven men living together in one house is not easy.”

Just one sentence, yet it carries a lot of meaning. j-hope did not deny that living together back then was a beautiful memory, but he also admitted that the phase has pαѕѕed. At the age of 30, each member is truly a grown man who needs personal space that deserves to be respected. Each person also has different lifestyles and personal schedules. Living together — even when they were younger — already came with challenges, and now it has become even more difficult to maintain.

Even so, j-hope didn’t deny that whenever they are together, they still have incredibly fun moments. He said, “But when we were in LA, we had fun. We often talked about things we couldn’t before.”

This comment moved many fans, as it shows that even though they no longer live together, the bond between the members remains just as strong. It also reinforces the fact that BTS not living under one roof doesn’t mean they have become distant or less close. It’s simply because they are at a different stage in their lives.

Not only j-hope but Jimin has also spoken honestly about this in the past. In the documentary filmed during the production of his solo album, he revealed that after about 7–8 years of living together, they realized that sharing one space among seven people was becoming more difficult because everyone needed privacy. On the other hand, sooner or later, they would have to learn how to live on their own, so the group decided to move out separately.

The time BTS stopped using their shared dorm was when their luxury apartment lease expired in 2020. Compared to other K-pop groups, the length of time they lived together is considered quite long. Especially considering that BTS became successful early — around 2017 — buying homes was easy, and in fact many members had already purchased their own apartments before 2020, yet they still chose to live together for quite some time after.

In the beginning, when they first started living separately, most members confessed how lonely they felt and how they had to get used to it because this stage was inevitable. V once shared in a scene from BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star that he decorated his home warmly so he wouldn’t feel lonely without the members around anymore.

But even though they no longer live under the same roof, the members actually meet and hang out even more. On special occasions such as birthdays or the group’s debut anniversary, they still gather to celebrate. And now that BTS 7 is preparing to reunite next year, just having all seven members appear together on stage is already enough to warm every fan’s heart.
