In Asian countries, especially кσяєα, parents have a great influence on their children's lives. In most cases, the advice or guidance of their parents is correct and children often have to listen to it.
However, there are also many children opposing what their parents said or telling lies to them. This leads to 2 results, the children's actions can be disastrous or can also be the path to a good future.
BTS members in general and j-hope in particular are not out of this situation, but they are typical examples of the second result!
Before debuting as an idol, j-hope had to face his father's opposition when choosing professional dancing. As a father, of course no one wants their children to take risks for an uncertain future, and so j-hope's father - a Literature teacher, once discouraged this dream.
j-hope revealed that when he was young, he told his dad that he was going to study but instead stu∂ιєd his true pαѕѕion, which was dancing. He lied to his dad by spending time in his room studying dance videos, but his lie was quickly discovered by his dad.
“When I was younger and really into dancing, it happened to be my exam period. I would pretend to study in my room, but I was actually watching dance videos” he said. He continued: "I was working really hard on pretending to study and watching dance videos when my dad suddenly came into my room. At the time, I was so surprised. My dad sighed deeply and just left. I remember this memory vividly."
At the time, he felt guilty towards his dad for not being honest about what he was doing. Fortunately, later on, j-hope showed his perseverance with his dream and his dad began to accept him.
j-hope recalled, “That’s why I once danced in front of my dad with no music. He told me to dance for him so I poured out my passion by dancing without any music or noise. The only sound you could hear was the sound of my clothing and my breathing. There was a time like that".
This is not the only time j-hope "told lie" to his parents to chase his dream. As he was a trainee, he ever lied about himself to his mother. And it's the second lie he still felt regretful.
Whenever j-hope's mother asked questions like how he was doing, he always lied that he was still living well even though he was tired, scared, and even depressed. He was afraid that his mother would feel worried. That's also the lie that j-hope remembers the most until now!
But now, j-hope can look back on those memories and feel less regretful about his lie because he has become so successful. His parents must be very proud when looking back on their son's growth even though he didn't follow their wishes!
