India ARMYs' BTS Obsession Is Alarming Their Parents

Although BTS has a good influence on many people, many ARMYs also show how active a fan of a K-pop group can be. However, in India, some alarming cases of BTS obsession are increasing day by day.

This has made the image of BTS and ARMY more negative. The parents of these people are also very confused as to how to save their children.

Here are some facts about this situation in India:

ARMYs have shown their dedication and support to BTS in very positive ways. They also always defend the team in any issue they face, such as protecting them from crowds at the airport, defending them when their words are misinterpreted during interviews, or defending them against racial slurs and prejudices.

But among them, some BTS fans turn their love for their idols into an obsession. It directly affects themselves and they can't even protect themselves.

In particular, recently, in Ahmedabad, India, an increasing number of students reported needing counseling and intervention from trained psychologists. Most of the reasons they encounter are because of their excessive addiction to BTS, of which 70% are female.

Dr. Kalrav Mistry, a psychiatrist at Shalby Hospital, shared that they receive about 5 to 7 cases of BTS obsession every week. He said that: "Over 15 kids have come seeking help for their BTS obsession in the last ten days, and almost 70% are girls."

There are cases worth mentioning like a teenage girl who paid a substantial amount of money to learn a specific BTS choreography and smashed her laptop in anger when asked about it. While another 14-year-old girl is so addicted to BTS that she can't eat or sleep properly and listen to the band's music for hours on her laptop and phone.

Parents have begun to closely observe their children's interest in BTS and worry about excessive BTS obsession and addiction in their children. Many schools have also hired full-time psychologists to help students better cope with their BTS addiction.

Dr. Ajab Primuswala, a psychologist at a popular school near the SG Highway, has connected increased device dependence with BTS addiction. He shared: "Now, the proliferation of Korean pop bands is affecting children. Recently the band performed live at 4 am, and many children remained awake to watch the performance live online."

Doctors have advised parents to closely monitor their children's internet activities and pay attention to any behavioral changes. Turning a fan into a negative obsession is a bad thing.

Therefore, each of us needs to know how to express our admiration in the right way. BTS aspires to heal emotional trauma through their music and ARMYs should take this sensibly!
