These days, fans are going back in time with BTS through BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star. There are many memories being reminded in the first episodes including the time when BTS first debuted until They encountered an incident when they renewed their contract with HYBE in 2018.
At that time, even SUGA hinted at the risk of BTS's disbandment before the members revealed it at the end of the year through a way that fans could not have expected. Fans didn't seem to realize it until the whole story was revived in the newly released documentary.
When looking back at what happened, fans realized how emotional SUGA was during that difficult time for the group. Here's what fans discovered after watching the latest episode of BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star:
This year, BTS celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut, marking an important milestone in their career as a K-Pop group. But unfortunately the whole group has now enlisted to complete their m̷i̷l̷i̷t̷a̷r̷y̷ service and fans have to wait at least 6 months until the first member of BTS is discharged.
Although this is certainly a difficult time, it is really not a big challenge at all compared to BTS in 2018. Especially, when looking back at the shared footage of the group's situation near the end of 2018. Like standing on the brink of disbandment a few years ago, fans saw how difficult times were for BTS while they didn't know it.
The story about BTS almost disbanding in early 2018 only became known when Jin spoke at the MAMA Awards ceremony later that year. Jin burst into tears while surprising everyone by saying: "It was really tough for all of us mentally earlier this year. We even talked about whether to disband or not and gave it a lot of thought… but we pulled ourselves together and I’m so glad that we were able to receive such an amazing award. I’d like to thank our members for pulling togther. I’m so grateful for our members and for ARMY for always showing us their love and support. Thank you."
However, after watching the incident mentioned in detail in BTS's new documentary, ARMYs realized that this news had already been hinted at by SUGA, even before Jin shared i but they didn't realize. Specifically, in the documentary, SUGA, likened the situation to a romantic relationship that is fated to end, but neither side wants to be the bad guy by doing it first.
He said: "It's like the moment before a couple breaks up..but no one wants to be the bad guy, so it felt like we were pushing the responsibility over. If anyone of us makes that choice, that person becomes the bad guy. It felt like that's why we couldn't bring ourselves to do it".
This immediately reminded many people of his song “Trivia: Seesaw” in which he said som̾e̾t̾h ̾ing almost verbatim. It turned out that Seesaw was the song that expressed his feelings when facing the disbanding situation of BTS, not simply a song about the romantic story of a couple as ARMYs still mistakenly thought.
This new discovery has also added to the emotionality around SUGA’s live “Seesaw” performance during his solo tour. Contrary to the Love Yourself tour setup, SUGA did a very s̾t̾r̾i̾p ̾ped-down version of the song during the D-DAY Tour with an acoustic guitar. However, the guitar was decorated with signatures and messages from all the BTS members.
Fans couldn't stop expressing their feelings upon discovering this surprising fact:
- the zoom to the members signatures while yoongi was playing seesaw
- The way Yoongi compared to them disbanding as couple having break up he's really a genius songwriter but it's so painful
- thinking about it now.. yoongi only used the guitar that has members signature on it during seesaw
- on my knees violently sobbing
- It's like they signed it to remind him that what the song was about is in the past and not now. Kind of giving a good feeling to the song and not have it marred with the negative and ȟɥȑț feeling of the past.
- Waking up with all the spoilers and Yoongi wrote seesaw for the members????
- I'm sure everybody cried after knowing that the song "seesaw" isn't a couple song but a song for bts members
- So Seesaw was never about a romantic relationship. It was how Yoongi felt towards Army and the members when they thought of giving up. He climbed off the Seesaw because he realized it couldn’t give him the answer. He had to find the “Answer” himself. I’m fine
- Seesaw is a stale mate. There is no winner and no loser and yet neither party wants to be the one who gives up first. This stems from feelings of attachment and caring and wanting to avoid becoming a source pain or ȟɥȑț for each other (the bad guy). There’s also a little streak…
- I’m just going to lay here and cry
- I’m so mixed. I mean I’m glad he told us but I kind of wish he never did, at the same time.
- figuring out like 5 years later yoongi wrote all these gut punching heart wrenching break up songs and for them to be about bts...
- reminds me of him saying he originally wrote and composed the song with the thought of it being a group song
- The fact that tear and seasaw is for bts. Im ddddooooooneeeeee
