As the most iconic K-pop boy group of the 21st century, it’s no surprise that BTS are often referred to as “the idols of idols.” The nickname stems from the fact that countless younger K-pop artists look up to BTS as the ultimate role models and a major source of inspiration in their own careers.
With their global impact, all-round talents, and deeply inspiring success story, BTS have won over not just fans worldwide, but also many of their fellow idols—and sometimes, even their parents!
One rising fourth-gen idol recently caught attention after revealing his dad is actually a major ARMY! That idol is none other than Wonjin of CRAVITY, who shared a laugh-out-loud story about his dad’s love for BTS and their playful father-son banter about the K-pop legends.
CRAVITY appeared as guests on the popular YouTube talk show The K-Star Next Door, where they opened up about some amusing anecdotes from their lives. During the episode, Wonjin highlighted his dad’s sharp sense of humor and love for cracking jokes—often at his own expense.
Apparently, Wonjin is the main character in many of his father’s jokes. For instance, whenever someone asks his dad about his eldest son, he dramatically replies, “He ran away from home.”
Host Jonathan couldn’t hold back his reaction, exclaiming, “You sound like a delinquent,” —to which Wonjin cheekily replied, “I’ve become a brat.”
However, the biggest laugh came when Wonjin recalled his playful dynamics with his father. Jokingly, he once told his father that his dream was to become a rich man’s son and complaining that he was not trying hard enough to fulfill Wonjin’s dreams. In response, his father clapped back, saying, “I also want a son like BTS.”

The response had the entire studio bursting into laughter, while even Jonathan struggled to contain himself. The moment quickly went viral online, drawing reactions like:
- BTS is that one cousin with multiple degrees that every Asian family talk about
- I would k word myself if I was a cousin of any BTS member. Can you imagine the family gatherings??? Particularly, Asian parents! "So what has your kid been up to?" No thank you!!!!
- If my parents tell me that we're gonna have serious issues
- How cute is this guy. And funny. Don’t worry son you’ll make it your own way
- When asian parents start quoting you as a standard for their kids, you know you have made it
- he openly roasted his father on a show. hahaha it's so cute
- father and son match each other’s energy
- 'I want a son like BTS.' wonjin's dad is so funny
- he got humor from his dad, his dad is really funny just like the son
- BTS setting standards everywhere
- son and dad dissing each other
- i’d leave the house immediately if i were wonjin
- man his father is savage. he could be an ARMY actually
Even idols can’t escape being compared to ‘someone else’s perfect child’ in front of their parents. But honestly, being measured up against BTS isn’t the bad thing. After all, they are the gold standard of the K-pop world—icons that every aspiring idol dreams of emulating.
