Recently, through a video, a former trainee at the same time as BTS at Big Hit shared some stories related to BTS members' dreams when they were trainees. At the same time, he also expressed his joy and pride to see BTS have such success today.
Since their debut in 2013, the group has gained popularity as their music has spread to a global audience. But before that, all the members went through intense training.
Like many other K-pop idols, BTS also had to spend years practicing and dreaming before they came close to debuting or having the success they are now. In a recent video with The Korea Herald, Kim Jihoon - a former trainee of Big Hit, shared about BTS's dream as a trainee and some stories he witnessed about BTS during their training.
Kim Jihoon shared how it felt to see the members who used to practice with him and are now famous on-screen idols compared to before. As expected, Jihoon revealed that it sometimes feels weird to see his friends on screen, to which he complimented, "They've become more handsome and cool."
It seems impossible to choose a single moment that is considered one of the greatest achievements given all their success. For Kim Jihoon, one moment that shocked him was when BTS entered the Billboard charts before becoming the first K-Pop artist to hit #1 on this chart.
This reminded him that when they were practicing, seeing PSY enter this US chart was huge at the time. He remembered: "When we were trainees, we were so surprised at how “Gangnam Style” was second on the Billboard chart".
At that time, he and BTS were surprised and of course, they have the desire to be able to achieve the same achievements as PSY. Kim Jihoon then said that BTS finally made their dream come true: "We talked about whether we could ever do the same and how we should focus on becoming the best in Korea. But now they’ve made it come true. It’s really amazing."
Jihoon, who has been with BTS for many years as a trainee, said their success doesn't depend on luck or good timing but on the talent and dedication of the members. He was also honest and said that his decision not to continue with the group and the company's decision was the right one. He said: "First of all, it was their astounding effort and talent. But I also think Big Hit did well by making a great decision [of releasing him from the group]".
Throughout the video, Kim Jihoon also shared positive and impressive things about the personalities of BTS members. He mentioned that sometimes the ambition to become an idol makes some trainees greedy. However, BTS has always shown their modesty and it is what they strive for that has brought them to fame they couldn't even imagine before their debut.
To have success like today, BTS has started a big dream with very small steps. It's from the admiration and hope from being a trainee when seeing the success of others. And now, they become the dream of many generations of K-pop later.
