BTS’s Veteran Producer Breaks up With Celebrity Girlfriend After 2 Years, ARMYs’ Reactions Are Priceless

Typically, producers, staff, bodyguards, and crew members work behind the scenes and rarely receive much public attention. However, when it comes to BTS’s team, the story is completely different. Many people who have worked with the group have also become well-known within the fan community due to their long-term collaboration, their presence throughout BTS’s major milestones and achievements, and the close bonds they share with the members.

BTS’s longtime producer of over a decade, Pdogg, is one of the most prominent figures among them. Alongside Bang PD, choreographer Son Sung-deuk, and producers such as Slow Rabbit, Hiss Noise, ADORA, and CEO Shin Seon Jeong, he is considered one of the key figures who laid the foundation for BTS and their music.

As the producer behind global superstars BTS, Pdogg has ranked No.1 in domestic royalty earnings for five consecutive years since 2019. During the same period, he also received the Grand Prize for Copyright from the кσяєα Music Copyright Association. He is the mastermind behind numerous нιт songs such as “Boy In Luv,” “I NEED U,” “Fire,” “Blo0d Sweat & Tears,” “Spring Day,” “DNA,” “IDOL,” “Boy With Luv,” “Life Goes On,” and most recently contributed to the album ARIRANG, which also achieved major success by topping the Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks.

However, as the saying goes, “lucky in money, unlucky in love.” According to кσяєαn media reports on the 3rd, Pdogg (real name Kang Hyo-won) is said to have broken up with his girlfriend, weathercaster Kim Ga-young, earlier this year. The reason given was that the two gradually grew apart while focusing on their respective careers, ultimately leading to the end of their relationship after about two years together.

Previously, the couple had drawn attention when they publicly confirmed their relationship in 2024. In February of that year, Kim Ga-young openly shared on a radio program that she was “dating diligently,” indirectly confirming her relationship with Pdogg. At the time, she also expressed, "It feels a bit strange to talk about this on broadcast for the first time. I've received a lot of messages, and I’m grateful to everyone who congratulated and supported us."

Born in 1989, Kim Ga-young is six years younger than the producer (Pdogg was born in 1983). She is a familiar face in the broadcasting industry. She began her career as a weather presenter at OBS in 2015, then worked in various roles including in-house announcer at SK Hynix and Hyundai Motor Company, announcer at Pohang MBC, and a 24-hour news host at KBS Media before becoming MBC’s main weathercaster in 2018.

In addition to her broadcasting career, she has been active as an entertainer, appearing on programs such as “Love Me Actually,” “Geon-sseol Cafe,” “Apocalypse,” “March of the Ants,” and “Kick a Goal.” She is also widely known for her rap sкιℓℓs and dance cover performances on MBC’s YouTube channel “Is It Raining Today?” and has appeared on variety shows like SBS’s “Go Crazy Girls.”

The couple’s breakup came as a surprise to many, especially since they had been relatively open about their relationship. However, the reason of “busy schedules” is also considered understandable, given that both are in demanding fields with intense workloads.

While many expressed regret over the split of this talented and well-matched couple, the reaction from the ARMY community was arguably even more attention-grabbing. Coincidentally, the timing of their breakup aligns with BTS’s return after a three-year hiatus due to military service, prompting fans to joke that Pdogg broke up because BTS is back and he needs to fully focus on producing music for the group.

Some comments went even further, humorously suggesting that Pdogg has “devoted his entire life to BTS,” leaving no time for a personal love life. Others joked that he would become part of the “Bangtan Papa/Grandpa crew,” staying by BTS’s side well into his 60s or 70s. Notable fan reactions after the news spread included:

- BTS came back and Pdogg said: love life canceled, studio time activated

- He didn’t get dumped, he just entered his ‘full-time BTS producer’ era again

- He started dating when BTS enlisted and broke up when they came back. I’m not saying who’s responsible though. But anyway, congrats on your single era, producer-nim—please give us more Billboard #1 нιтs!

- Not people joking he broke up because comeback season is more important. This is why he made Like Animals, Hooligan right?

- If I didn’t know he wasn’t involved in ‘Come Over,’ I would’ve thought he and SUGA split the song between them

- It’s okay, we’ve got money and a #1 on Billboard—hoping Pdogg-nim releases some tear-נєякing love songs soon

- Namjoon just said recently: "We’ll be able to do well too someday. You don’t know what’s gonna happen someday" and pls, send it to Pdogg-nim

- BTS in their 30s with no girlfriends and Pdogg freshly single… this whole team is married to music at this point

- At this rate, BTS are gonna нιт 40 still saying ‘we’re too busy for dating’ and I won’t even be surprised
