K-pop idols always have to face packed schedules, from dance rehearsals, filming, performing on stage, to promotional events. For global superstars like BTS, the pressure is even more intense. As a result, they rarely get a full night’s sleep, and every minute of rest is precious.
Sleep is an essential part of life, which is why fans are naturally curious about idols’ sleeping habits. They are especially intrigued by the secret behind how idols can still look energetic and vibrant on stage, even without getting eight hours of sleep a day.
To satisfy fans’ curiosity, BTS members have shared some interesting facts about their sleep habits, including the topic of who is the hardest member to wake up, leaving ARMYs amazed to realize that even idols struggle with sleep deprivation!
In one interview, when asked, “Who is the hardest to wake up?”, the BTS members unanimously named Jungkook. SUGA immediately explained: “Whenever there’s a schedule, everyone has to get up quickly and prepare everything for the day. But this kid, we try all sorts of ways and he still sleeps. So we have to keep physically waking him, but it doesn’t work. We even lift him up and put him down repeatedly, and he still sleeps soundly without waking.”

Jin also shared how the group copes with Jungkook’s “hard-to-wake” habit: “Seeing that, we have to put his clothes on him and place him straight in the car. When he wakes up, he doesn’t even know how his outfit was already on.”
V revealed an extremely funny situation that made the interviewer laugh out loud: “Once, we even poured water on him.” The interviewer was surprised: “Is that okay?”. Then, RM replied: “What water? We even sprayed mist but it still didn’t faze him at all.”
These revelations show that Jungkook is truly a heavy sleeper – he sleeps deeply and is difficult to wake, even with physical attempts or various мєтнods. This explains why the members have to come up with “extreme measures” to make sure he is up on time for schedules.
It’s not the first time BTS has “exposed” Jungkook’s sleeping habits. Back in 2019 BTS FESTA, they mentioned this again. RM confirmed: “Jungkook actually can’t get up, just like it’s written here: ‘Jungkook might get angry if you wake him up.’”
V also recalled a trainee day memory to emphasize how difficult it was to wake Jungkook in the morning: “During the trainee days, I prepared a surprise for Jungkook’s birthday but he didn’t get up no matter how many times I knocked on the door. I had to pull his legs to the living room. (laughs)”
On another occasion, BTS challenged Lee Hyun – a senior artist from the same Big Hit Music label – to wake Jungkook. Of course, the process was far from easy! j-hope and Jin repeatedly exclaimed: “The hardest mission” as they watched Lee Hyun try to get a response from the maknae, but Jungkook didn’t react.
However, fans also know that Jungkook is not a lazy sleeper. He can stay up late to work or chat with fans until the early morning. Many times, fans have witnessed him completing busy schedules and only getting brief naps backstage, during makeup, in the car, or on planes while traveling.
In the most recent live broadcast, Jungkook even stayed up all night and had to use singing for fans as a way to prevent himself from falling asleep because he had another “schedule” afterward.

Beyond the humor, Jungkook’s sleep habits also reflect the incredible workload of a K-pop idol. Even as someone who is hard to wake, he still completes every schedule, performs, shoots music videos, promotes globally, and interacts with fans. This demonstrates the dedication and hard work of the Golden Maknae, earning him even more respect from fans.
On the other hand, fans also appreciate how BTS members care for and help each other when living or working together. Instead of complaining or forcing Jungkook to change his habits, the members proactively find practical solutions and even turn it into a fun challenge or playful joke.
