In the May 2022 Korean star brand rankings announced by the Korean Reputation Institute, BTS no longer holds the 1st place. The change in the position of the famous brand is said to be related to the unnecessary scandal of V and Jennie.

The Korean Star Brand Ranking is a monthly ranking that evaluates the popularity and influence of Korean celebrities during the month. For the past several months, BTS has always been at the top with outstanding points.
However, in May 2022, there were some changes in position on the chart. To come up with the results of the rankings, the Institute analyzed big data about stars, collected from April 29, 2022 to May 29, 2022. Results were announced on May 30.
This result is based on many criteria such as frequency of participation in activities, media coverage, interaction level, community awareness index. Therefore a change in position may come from a change in public interest.
This month, soccer star Son Heung Min topped the rankings with a brand score of 19,683,035, a sharp increase of 230.48% compared to April. The reason for this lead is due to terms related to football, the English Premier League and the title of Premier League top scorer that he has just achieved.
Following that, the second place belonged to trot star Lim Young Woong, who maintained second place with 9,786,918, a slight increase of 15.13% compared to the previous month. He has continued to hold the second position compared to the previous month.
This month, BTS has dropped to 3rd place, BTS with a brand score of 8,132,704 points. Although witnessing a significant increase of 80.02% month-on-month, the reputation positivity index decreased slightly.
Compared to last month BTS held the No. 1 position, this is the rare time BTS has lost first place to two other characters. This is said to be influenced by false rumors that V and Jennie are dating. Along with that is the controversy related to the scandal of Kim Garam.
The next positions include: PSY climbs to fourth place with 6,814,988 points. 5th place is IU with 6,716,331 points, an increase of 24.07% compared to the previous month.
The positions from the top 6 to the top 10 are: BLACKPINK, Son Suk Ku, Lee Chan Won, Kang Daniel and Ryu Hyun Jin, respectively.
