President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is on a state visit to the United Kingdom, held a dinner with King Charles III on the 21st (local time). Here, the two senior leaders of the two countries exchanged many political messages through their "soft power". And of course, BTS members cannot be ṃïṩṩïńġ in both of their speeches.
However, in recent hours, ARMYs have seen many posts from BLACKPINK fans that have distorted the content of the ḳöŕệän President's statement. Not only that, they also removed all the respect that the British president and king had for BTS in the original speech to promote their artists - those present at the banquet.
Here is what some toxic BLACKPINK fans did and ARMYs' reaction to it:
King Charles III welcomed President Yoon during his visit to Britain with a dinner held at Buckingham Palace on November 21. During the dinner, President Yoon and the British monarch mentioned the long-term relationship between the two countries and expressed readiness to cooperate for freedom, peace, prosperity and the future of the world.
At this important banquet, key figures from the ḳöŕệän government along with a number of figures representing the arts and culture world were invited to attend. The list includes Jo So-hyun - who plays for Tottenham Hotspur's soccer team, Oliver Kendall - who runs YouTube channel British Man, chef Park Woong-cheol, Ki Bomi - pastry chef, designer Park So -hee,...and especially BLACKPINK members.
From here, on social networks began conflict posts between some fans of BTS and BLACKPINK. It comes from a statement by President Yoon when he highlighted ḳöŕệän cultural factors that influence cultural exchanges between ḳöŕệä and the UK. Specifically, President Yoon accurately stated that:“If the UK is the country of The Beatles, Queen, Harry Potter & David Beckham, ḳöŕệä is the country of BTS, Black Pink, Squid Game and Son Heung Min’s right foot". In particular, he also added that "'My Universe', sung by ḳöŕệä's BTS and єnglαnd's Coldplay, has received sympathy and love from young people around the world."
This shows that the President gave special recognition to the influence of BTS as well as other celebrities including BLACKPINK in his speech. But some toxic fans changed President Yoon's speech. They misrepresented that only BLACKPINK was mentioned first in his statement as well as omitted BTS's name from it. Not only that, they also made it a trend by attaching the hashtag #BLACKPINK PAVE THE WAY.
Regardless of whether BTS or BLACKPINK have greater influence globally, just taking into account the content of the ḳöŕệän President's statement, it is clear that some fans of the girl group lied and disrespected BTS. That's why ARMYs gave a harsh reaction to this and asked other fans to spread the truth.
Some people also think that because BTS is in a period of temporary hiatus from group activities, they cannot participate in such events like BLACKPINK. But in reality, under the previous President, BTS was many times the only artist accompanying the President to important political and diplomatic events. Moreover, after President Yoon's speech, the British King also had similar αssessments about the importance of BTS in connecting the two countries. The British King highly appreciated the group: “ḳöŕệä has matched Danny Boyle with Bong Joon-ho, James Bond with Squid Game, and the Beatles’ Let It Be with BTS’s Dynamite.”
