At 2 pm (KST) Jin and nearly 200 recruits attended the enlistment ceremony at the 5th Infantry Division's Key Recruit Training Center located in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi-do. After five weeks of basic military training, he was assigned to his own unit and served as an active-duty soldier in the army. The expected discharge date is June 12, 2024.

In the training center there is a parking lot for recruits so most recruits enter the unit through the front gate by car. Jin, the BTS members and his family also sat in 6 vans without a personal greeting to ensure order before opening the barracks.
