Sulli—a talented singer and actress who was formerly a member of f(x)—pαѕѕed away on October 14, 2019, at the age of 25, leaving profound gяιєf among fans around the world. Although fans continue to show great respect for the late star, and seven years have pαѕѕed since her ∂єαтн, her family has repeatedly been embroiled in various controversies, ranging from disputes over αѕѕets to questionable statements on social media.
In particular, her older brother, who uses the account k.d.вσмвa, has drawn attention multiple times for making provocative remarks in sensitive situations involving other celebrities. For instance, during the controversy surrounding actor Kim Soo Hyun in March last year, he stirred public attention by posting comments that appeared to “add fuel to the fire,” mocking the actor’s character and predicting the downfall of his career.

Most recently, BTS—the global group currently making one of the most highly anticipated comebacks—has become his latest target!
Specifically, on March 21, just a few hours before the free concert “BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG” was set to take place at Gwanghwamun Square, the k.d.вσмвa account posted: “If you cannot bring happiness, you should not bring unhappiness either.” He continued by adding, “It is not like there are no other places to hold a concert,” making a remark that appeared to criticize the choice of venue.
Notably, the post directly mentioned BTS at the end with the phrase “JONNA 건투를 빈다 BTS”—a highly vulgar кσяєαn slang expression similar to “fυ¢кing” in English. While often used for emphasis, in this context it carried a sarcastic and hostile tone.

It can be understood that these remarks may stem from real concerns surrounding the organization of such a large-scale event in central Seoul. The city government implemented a series of strict crowd-control measures: a total of 31 buildings near Gwanghwamun Square were subject to access restrictions, with rooftop access completely prohibited in 7 buildings and upper-floor access restricted in the remaining 24. Roads surrounding the area were closed for 33 hours, from 9 PM on March 20 to 6 AM on March 22, and public transportation access points in the vicinity were also shut down.
During the event period, the Gwanghwamun area experienced severe traffic congestion, affecting residents, businesses, and even guests attending nearby weddings. There were also reports that some civil servants were required to work on their days off or use personal leave to support the event.
However, the way k.d.вσмвa expressed his views has been widely criticized as inappropriate and lacking consideration. The use of vulgar language and the direct targeting of BTS in what appeared to be a personal attack sparked strong backlash from the fan community, ARMY. Many argued that his comments went beyond constructive criticism of event organization and instead became an unnecessary act of hostility.
Importantly, announcements regarding road closures, alternative routes, and crowd-control plans had been communicated well in advance. Despite initial concerns, the concert proceeded smoothly, with no reports of serious α¢¢ι∂єитs or disorder. The crowd was well-managed, lining up and moving in an orderly manner under the supervision of authorities. Moreover, images of fans voluntarily cleaning up trash after the event received widespread praise.
In addition, the economic impact of the concert is undeniable. Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Koo Yun-cheol stated: “The economic value is expected to reach trillions of won. The invisible ripple effects will be even greater.”

In response to k.d.вσмвa’s criticism, fans did not hesitate to push back. Many comments expressed frustration:
- We don’t need YOUR permission to dance
- Have you contributed to South кσяєα as much as BTS yet? Is your achievement as great as BTS?
- That announcement was made a long time ago, you know. Alternative routes were also provided, so why are you only protesting now?
- Disappointed by your comment, and back at you. If you don’t have anything nice to say, sometimes hold your tongue and don’t say it, empathy goes a long way
- Just mind your own business
- Everyone is happy—you're the only one who’s miserable. Because you’re useless
- If your government has no problems, then why are you crying here?
Amid all the controversy, BTS’s concert continues to be regarded by both domestic and international media as a major milestone—not only for fans, but also for South кσяєα’s entertainment industry and economy.
