A New Idol Causes Controversy Because He Tries To Be A V Doppelganger To Attract Attention

Kpop is where many handsome idols gather, making fans fascinated. Although countless idols have different backgrounds, what is extremely surprising is that some idols' visuals are similar. Some images even make fans rub their eyes many times because they can't tell the difference.

The case of V and a K-pop idol preparing to debut below is a typical example. Netizens were ̾s̾h̾o̾c̾ked and surprised because the guy really looked like V in the newly posted photos. This new idol also quickly emerged as "another version of V" but along with that also came criticism that the new idol was trying to do this to attract attention.

Here's what fans are talking about in the case of this soon-to-debut idol:

In the past, Kpop fans are no longer strangers to cases where idols have strangely similar moments despite the fact that they possess unique visual beauty. Right from the first days of their debut, V and Baekhyun even confused fans when sharing similarities and moments like twins. Both idols themselves know this and they used to pose for photos together to show it off to their fans.

However, in a recent case when V was put on the table with an upcoming idol, the reaction of netizens did not seem to be very happy. Specifically, some fans discovered that member Kwon Hyeop of the boy band WAKER, the group preparing to debut on January 8, 2024 under Howling Entertainment, has photos that look no different from V.

There was a selfie photo of this guy that ̾s̾h̾o̾c̾ked fans because they thought it was V, but when they saw it posted on WAKER's account, they realized it was a visual copy. Kwon Hyeop's appearance is compared to being similar to the appearance at the time when V had curly and bleached hair. Even his posing style was commented to be similar to V's and many people even accused him of using shooting angles to create confusing photos to attract attention from the public.

Therefore, it created a big controversy when many people thought that Kwon Hyeop and company used tricks to promote this new group:

- Let's not do this. He just made his hair just like V's

- If you watch a video of him, they're not alike at all. He tries to attract attention through a misunderstanding photo

- He looks like 100% taehyung ONLY in this picture

- probably a picture of V is shown during his visit to the clin....

- I know they say "imitation is a form of flattery" but this is a little too much I think. Looking closely though, he's handsome but he doesn't really look like V except in the photos were he's literally cosplaying V with the same outfit, same hairstyle and similar facial expressions/poses. I hope he does create his own unique identity tho because the last place you want to be as a upcoming idol is in the shadow of another great idol, especially if that idol is thee Kim Taehyung.

- I didn't know him well back then, but seeing him now, he reminds me of V

- everyone is V's son at the end of the day

- He is 100% deliberately doing it. Probably did it to get attention and succeeded.

- I just know he practices the taehyung face in front of the mirror everyday

- looks like he does it on purpose lol or company has strategy for doing like this

- This guy know well whats he is doing lol, clearly using what V expression that he used to make, the first pic is face/expression what tae always doing, but yeah the rest of pic he dont look a like V at all, just playing with the hairstyle, angle and expression to make him look like V

- I wonder if he started out that way, or if they took him to whoever did that *** member's face (I censored to be extra kind as it's festive season). It must be weird to get so popular that people start to copy your face.

- WTF? They’re the same person. They even have the same facial shape! In some of the pictures, he looks more V than V himself. Doppelgangers aren’t supposed to meet. These two should not cross paths, LOL.

Meanwhile, Kwon Hyeop is no stranger to the K-Pop world. In 2017, he participated in Produce 101 Season 2 as a trainee of Maroo Entertainment along with Park Ji Hoon of Wanna One. He also graduated from the School of Performing Arts (SOPA) with many other famous idols.

After being eliminated from the program, Kwon Hyeop parted ways with the management company and announced that he would find a new career path. Then, in 2018, he enlisted in the army to complete his m̷i̷l̷i̷t̷a̷r̷y̷ service. After 1 year and 6 months of completing his service, Kwon Hyeop continues to look for an opportunity to debut as an idol. And in 2023, he is currently awaiting his debut as a WAKER's rapper.
