Among the music awards, the GRAMMY Awards is the biggest and most prestigious award ceremony on the planet. Therefore, fans around the world always expect that their artists will at least be nominated at this award ceremony. However, this year, Kpop fans were disappointed once again!
Since BTS enlisted in the army in the past 2 years, no Kpop product has been nominated at this prestigious award ceremony. Some netizens think that it is a failure of Kpop without superstar BTS. Meanwhile, others call the "rigged" GRAMMY Awards.
Here are netizens' reactions to the nomination results of the latest 2025 GRAMMY Awards:
The GRAMMY Awards is an award ceremony held annually since 1959 by the Recording Academy, an organization of music professionals including singers, producers, recording engineers and critics. The winners are chosen through a vote of the members, focusing on musical and artistic quality rather than commercial achievements such as chart performance or album sales.
With this standard, the GRAMMY Awards are always highly regarded among the awards. The 67th GRAMMY Awards ceremony was announced to be held in Los Angeles, USA on February 2 next year. On November 8, the Recording Academy announced the list of nominees for each category of the 2025 GRAMMY Awards.
It is noteworthy that this year K-pop continued to receive "bitter fruit" when no names were announced on this list. This is the second consecutive year that K-pop artists have not been nominated since BTS's three-year streak of nominations from 2020 to 2022. Although BTS's absence is understandable due to the group's military hiatus, netizens are disappointed that other K-pop artists could not appear on the list.
Previously, BTS was nominated in the 'Best Pop Duo Performance' category for three consecutive years from 2020 to 2022. Notably, in 2022, they were nominated for a total of three categories, including 'Best Music Video' and 'Album of the Year'.
K-pop fans expressed their reactions to the results of the 2025 GRAMMY Awards nominations:
- The same artists every year Anyways lets see Kpop in the nominations until 2026
- Have other KPOP idols ever be nominated “before” and "after" BTS - No
- The entire kpop failure to even get grammy nomination for their entire career
- BoA and Wonder Girls have their 5s and then nothing, it is no secret that their Western journey results in failure. It took Kpop 5 years after PSY but none reached Hot 100 until BTS. Ever been, you witnessed acts after acts reaching hot100, BB200,.. and even dream of GRAMMY.
- No BTS, no party, see how many Kpop idols there? but no one can get at least 1 nomination
- Is Kpop on the decline? After BTS, no idols are nominated? BLACKPINK, TWICE, TXT, NCT, IVE,...I heard people say they are superstars?
In addition, some BTS fans also said that the GRAMMY Awards are "always rigged" like every year. They were angry because even though BTS did not release a group song or album, they still had solo releases. The fact that none of the group members appeared on the nomination list is unfair because their solo achievements are notable.
ARMYs expressed their frustration on social media forums:
- The fact that they didn't nominate the BTS members is the biggest proof. I'm not surprised though, they always do the same thing
- They rarely recognize the art of kpop and it's artists, it's just so sad to see
- Are we surprised honestly ? they dont really f*ck with kpop. They use em for views, look how they did bts. We ALL know bts deserved that & was failed
- The Grammys are rigged as always
- It's always beyonce, taylor ,bruno ,billie ,Gaga I think she shows that j. Cole is partly true. Rigged
- It's time to chart BTS songs on US i tunes armyyyy
- So weird that none of their Solo work was included considering how many records they’ve broken and how many people listened to all the members in their own respective music categories.
- I´m so mad that they will probably never acknowledge the boys artistry as musicians.
- I'm not surprised bcs I knew it already no member is getting a nomination bcs it's a rigged
Meanwhile, pop star Beyonce was nominated for 11 Grammys this year, for a total of 99, setting a record for the most nominations in Grammy history. Another prominent nominee is former US President Jimmy Carter. He was nominated for a Grammy in the category of audiobook recording, narration and storytelling for his album ('Last Sundays In Plains: A Centennial Celebration').
