Will BTS Visit Peru’s Presidential Palace? Thousands Gather in Hopes of Seeing the Members

Peru’s capital, Lima, is caught up in BTS fever as the K-pop superstars make their first visit to the city since their debut in 2013. The district of Santiago de Surco has even temporarily renamed a section of Calle Sacramento in the Surco area “BTS Avenue” for one week, from October 5 to 11, while also putting up public signs to welcome the group.

The iconic Arco Morisco at Surco Friendship Park (Parque de la Amistad) has also been illuminated in BTS’ signature purple. Special light shows dedicated to the group are being held there daily through October 11.

At the “Magical Water Show” (Fuente de la Fantasía) in the Magic Water Circuit (Circuito Mágico del Agua), another popular tourist attraction in Lima, BTS-themed events featuring music, lights, and water projections are also taking place during the same period.

Notably, news of another potential event has υиєχρє¢тє∂ly emerged in recent hours: BTS will reportedly make an appearance at Peru’s Presidential Palace!

Several social media accounts from Peru have posted the claim “BTS se presentará en Palacio” (“BTS will appear at the Presidential Palace”), accompanied by videos showing thousands of people already gathering outside the Palacio de Gobierno in Lima, waiting for the group. The news quickly came as a surprise to both fans and non-fans alike.

Regarding “Palacio,” BTS previously visited the Palacio Nacional in мєχι¢σ City on May 6, 2026, where they met President Claudia Sheinbaum and waved to fans from a balcony overlooking the Zócalo square. The event attracted approximately 50,000 people and made international headlines. With this precedent in mind, many genuinely believed that Lima could host a similar event.

However, level-headed ARMYs recognized that this was not an official announcement but rather a rumor circulating within the local fan community, prompting many people to wait outside the palace for BTS to appear. Some Peruvian ARMYs later confirmed that the information was false, explaining that they had spread it to divert crowds that had been gathering outside BTS’ hotel for days or to discourage scalpers from camping outside the stadium.

This explanation seems plausible given that the chaos surrounding BTS’ accommodation remains extremely serious, despite RM’s plea and the local authorities’ intervention. For instance, after the drone show on the evening of October 8, many people continued lingering outside the hotel, screaming and shining laser beams at hotel windows they believed belonged to the rooms where BTS were resting.

Other circulating videos have also captured scenes of vehicles carrying RM and Jungkook being surrounded and blocked by crowds as they left the hotel to explore the city or returned afterward. The crowds prevented the vehicles from moving, held up their phones to record, screamed, called out the members’ names, and even demanded that the windows be rolled down. Even when traffic ρσℓι¢є and security personnel blew their whistles and instructed people to disperse, many appeared to ignore the directions, continuing to film and scream.

Some ARMYs could not hide their sarcasm toward those who would go to any lengths to meet BTS after learning the full story. Others expressed sympathy for Peruvian fans as they struggled to deal with the inconsiderate behavior of certain individuals in the crowds. Previously, some Peruvian ARMYs were reportedly said to have organized donations to hire water trucks to spray people causing disturbances around the hotel, as well as scalpers camping along the stadium perimeter.

The discussion surrounding the incident is now gaining considerable momentum: "Game over for these stupid stalkers", "If my Jungkook doesn't show up at the Government Palace, these people will look terrible hehe", "The lengths people will go to just to get nothing. Stupid", "They really saw one post and made it their whole itinerary. These people are fcking weirdos", "Imagine getting dressed, leaving home, and waiting for absolutely nothing", "A whole crowd gathered for an event that exists only on social media. They deserve all of it after destroying Peru ARMYs and BTS mood",...
