Over the past 10 years, BTS has had the opportunity to work with many directors and creative art directors for their music videos. Two of them include veteran music video directors Kim Jun Hong and Hong Won Gi from ZANYBROS.
ZANYBROS was founded in 2002 and has grown into one of the most influential music video companies of the кσяєαn Wave. They were also the first two producers to work with BTS since their debut days with one of the group's most beloved music videos at the time - "W@r of Horm0ne", released in 2014.
Well, when it comes to W@r of Horm0ne, it's been many years but many fans have to admit that it was the MV that decided them to get into the ARMY fandom.
In fact, the music video wasn't a standout MV or had a unique setting. It was filmed in a school setting decorated with banners and slogans related to the group.
The entire MV is monochrome but filmed in a one-take style that was popular among кσяєαn idols' MV at the time. For fans, the music combined with the visuals made them feel excited and vibrant.
However, behind the MV's creation, the two talented directors still felt regretful about soмєтнing they couldn't do according to V's request. Even when recalling the memories of filming with BTS, both expressed their apologies for not being able to do their best.
Specifically, if you remember, in W@r of Horm0ne, V held a lollipop in some scenes. When reviewing it, Kim Jun Hong recalled a request that V made while filming that he would throw his lollipop and hoped that the director could record that scene to recreate in the MV because it could be a highlight.
However, Kim Jun Hong failed to catch the lollipop, and the lollipop broke after V threw it. Finally, when he finished filming the MV, he happily "apologized" to V for not being able to record the entire scene of throwing the lollipop.
He recounted the situation: "When V requested that "Director ~ I'm gonna start with a lolly in my mouth then throw it away so please catch it"...The lolly was all broken...I'm sorry".
Even now, the director still regrets not being able to follow V's wishes, but fans reαѕѕured him that even if they didn't complete the scenes as originally planned, this was still a great MV.
Even when appearing in the "Comment Defenders" video of the Youtube channel AYO, MV directors Kim Jun Hong and Hong Won Gi received a lot of positive feedback from fans for their work with BTS. Some ARMYs even supported the two sides' future collaboration.
And one thing fans are sure of is that V wasn't disappointed that the director didn't record that scene because BTS always respects anyone who works with them!
