World-renowned novelist Paulo Coelho is a huge fan of BTS. Recently, at an interview in a special research program related to BTS, he praised BTS and their fans.
This has made ARMYs extremely proud!
Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul recently hosted the 3rd BTS Global Interdisciplinary Conference. The event is co-organized by the 'International Association for the Study of BTS', an organization that studies the phenomena created by BTS and ARMY, and the Semiosis Research Centerof Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
This agenda was held the first time in 2020 by Kingston University, London. The agenda was to discuss everything BTS- from music to social influence to marketing to culture. And for three consecutive years now, this conference has continued to create academic discourse around the biggest boyband in the world.
One of the keynote speakers in the event is the renowned Brazilian author Paulo Coelho. He spoke at length about BTS, their influence, and the dynamic between the group and their fans in a pre-recorded interview with Ana Clara.
In a special video interview sent to the 3rd BTS Global Interdisciplinary Conference, which opened at the Seoul Campus of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies on the 14th, Coelho Paulo said, "BTS has succeeded in a way that no one else has."
Not only that, but Paulo Coelho also expressed his admiration for the group: "I have boundless respect for BTS."
Coelho has long been a fan of BTS. In 2020, he also posted a forum criticizing those who attacked BTS on social networks unreasonably.
In the video, Coelho recalled the situation at the time, saying, "I posted on Twitter because I thought BTS was being unfairly attacked." “When I defended BTS, many followers left.” He also added, “BTS is like an empty beach, without forcing anyone, mothers can gather with mothers, with people who want to exercise, with young people who want to have some good times (under the name BTS)”.
He explained BTS's tolerance for being famous: "And BTS, I can’t even imagine how hard they work. Wow… You know the dance practices they have to do, the choreography, all that stuff. It must not be an easy life. People only see their sucess but they don’t see the hard work that is behind the success."
In addition, he also gave a positive view of ARMY's solidarity: "ARMYs do not shy away from commitments because life is about commitments and has to a lot to do with everything". Even he said that writing alone is sometimes boring but he is willing to write books with ARMYs.
This makes ARMYs and lovers of Paulo Coelho seem to go crazy. The love he has for BTS really makes ARMYs' noses widen for having such an amazing person at the top of the fandom!
