What Happened To BTS’s K-Drama “YOUTH”?

K-Drama has always been one of the most anticipated movie genres from aud̾i̾e ̾nces around the world. From romance to thriller, every month K-Drama brings a new selection of movies for viewers to enjoy.

Certainly among ARMYs, there are many who are loyal fans of ̾k̾o̾r̾e̾an movies. And more than that, they always expect a K-Drama related to BTS or movies made by BTS to be even better.

But of course, it might not be possible for BTS members to act in a movie like a movie about BTS. If you remember, вιg нιт Music mentioned releasing a movie about BTS 4 years ago but it hasn't been released yet. Many people are wondering, what is the future of the film?

There are a lot of ̾k̾o̾r̾e̾an movies released to fans this month and they promise to bring fans moments of comfortable entertainment. However, for ARMYs, it's not a big deal this month when topics about a special K-Drama about BTS surfaced.

Fans started talking about BTS's K-Drama: Youth - one of the projects announced in August 2019 as a potential project of HYBE but has not yet been released. It's been 4 years without any news about the movie and fans are eagerly anticipating it.

Meanwhile, at a press conference four years ago, HYBE founder Bang Si Hyuk shared the company's upcoming plans and, of course, it included BTS-related content. This includes Youth, which is slated to air as a ̾k̾o̾r̾e̾an drama inspired by BTS' fictional universe.

At the same time, Bang Si Hyuk once revealed that the original Youth release plan was in 2020. But for some reason, until 2023, there was still no information about it. He once said, “We are working with a famous Korean drama production company to produce a drama where the theme is based off of BTS’s outlook of the world, and the drama is expected to be revealed in the second half of 2020.”

According to Netmarrble, which has created many BTS Universe content about these projects, they describe: The BTS Universe, a time-traveling friendship story, began with BTS’s music videos and later expanded into other media, including the BTS Universe Story game...and the Save Me webtoon. In in, Seokjin (Jin‘s fictional character) tries to save his six friends over and over again by going back in time. Unfortunately, this doesn’t go according to plan, and the same can be said for YOUTH‘s production.

Meanwhile, there has actually been a casting for the actors who will play BTS to be done in summer 2020. The casting begins for YOUTH (originally titled Blue Sky) selecting seven young actors to play the alter egos of BTS, including World of the Married's Jeon Jin Seo as Jungkook.

But also in October of that year, fans expressed concern about YOUTH using BTS members' real names for characters. Since the BTS Universe contains a violent plot, including V's character committing ṃüŕďệŕ, some ARMYs worry that the fictional BTS will subject the real BTS to groundless rumors.

As a result, co-producers Chorokbaem Media and вιg нιт Music halted production in December 2020 but resumed filming in January. The names of the characters were changed and scenes were re-shot as needed. Finally, in November 2021, Chorokbaem Media announced that filming had ended and post-production had begun.

With those signals, many hoped to see YOUTH in 2022 but that didn't happen in the end. The silence of the crew, as well as HYBE, left fans with more questions than answers:

- LIKE WTF HAPPENED WITH THE BTS BU KDRAMA CALLED “ YOUTH “ LIKE IVE BEEN TOO EXCITED FOR TOO LONG RELEASE THIS RN

- What happened to that bts kdrama that was supposed to release

- It was reported to be released last quarter of 2023

- What happened to Youth, the kdrama about the BTS universe? It’s been radio silent for a while, anyone know anything?

- wait what happened to that bts universe inspired kdrama that was being made in 2020 that had a confirmed cast??? it’s been over 2 years

- I need Youth at that time when my heart need to be fill

- It's been a long time since the report of Bang PD, what happened?

- Why don't they release Youth?

For now, one thing's for sure, interest in YOUTH is still high, and ARMYs will be ready to travel back in time to Life's Best Moments in no time.
