Recently, photos of alleged K-Pop couple V and BLACKPINK‘s Jennie have been circulating online. They have all been “leaked” by a Twitter and Telegram user known as Gurumi Haribo (@gurumiharibo).
The authenticity of many of the photos has been questioned as more and more photos were “leaked.” Yet, more concerns have been raised after the user released unseen photos of fellow BLACKPINK member Jisoo and a netizen alleged the user had more access to other idols’ photos.
On September 29, BIGHIT MUSIC listed down on Weverse the steps they are taking to protect BTS, in particular, against internet trolls. They pointed out that they often do legal checks related to various types of hate comments. The company’s threats, contrary to what the antis may think, are never empty.
In the latest announcement, Big Hit mentioned: "We have recently filed additional criminal complaints against postings with personal attacks and defamation using new information provided by fans as well as collected through our monitoring initiatives.
We have found multiple defamation postings containing false information about the artists on platforms in and outside of Korea. We also have found that a specific poster has been spreading the same ill-intentioned rumor in multiple platforms and filed a criminal complaint against the poster after gathering all of the repetitively uploaded postings".
In particular, in which Big Hit also mentioned that they discovered an individual who regularly posted the same false content and spread it many times on social networking platforms. After asking the police to investigate, Big Hit has identified this person and is currently transferring the criminal record to the prosecutor's office.
Specifically, Big Hit announced: "We also have found that a specific poster has been spreading the same ill-intentioned rumor in multiple
platforms and filed a criminal complaint against the poster after gathering all of the repetitively uploaded postings. We are currently following our legal response process which monitors and collects evidence on malicious postings for 365 days and then includes them on the complaint. Active reporting of our fans hasbeen a big help to our malicious postings monitoring initiatives.
We would also like to share with you that after an extended police investigation, we were able to identify the suspect and the case has been sent to the prosecutor’s office."
When the statement was made, many assumed it was aimed at Gurumi Haribo. However, users recently responded to the statement from Big Hit on the Telegram account. In response, this person explained that the company's quarterly announcement of legal action against BTS defamation acts. Not only that, Gurumi Haribo also confirmed that she did not receive any lawsuits and affirmed that she told the truth.
On Telegram, this person wrote: "A quarterly statement was released today, same as the end of every March, June, September, and December. It did not specify what rumors, against who and is generally vague. Also, I have not received any legal notice from anyone.
Also I mentioned before, if somebody wants to sue me for defamation and/or spreading untruths, I will be willing to provide relevant evidence of my claims under the name of the law, so that a fair and UNBIASED truth will be revealed."
Moreover, this guy added: "And: During the time the pictures I shared were taken, Taehyung and Jennie have been on these dates together. This is something that I will state again as this is the truth...Jennie and Taehyung are very much real, Thanks, and this is not the end".
After Gurumi Haribo responded to this, many netizens felt a bit worried about whether Big Hit could catch the right culprit and make Gurumi Haribo stop her extreme actions. Many people left comments about the incident as follows:
- In the end he will go to prison ㅋㅋㅋ
- Bestie get a job
- This person still doesn't know their crime. They don't need to response to threat.
- Yet, he still continues to leak private pictures. Which is the bigger evil . .
- Or it's just a good publicity stunt made by the two companies
- The reason they haven’t said anything is because there are many edited photos and rumours out there. If Big Hit were to respond to each one, that would set a precedent, and all of a sudden, everyone with photoshop who’s grovelling for attention will start having some fun.
- Just leave them alone and mind their privacy! Leaking private pics should be punished. If they aren't being sued yet, I hope that they do!
- This person must have some weird obsession or vendetta bc this is weird.
- Another thing, the company's note does not say that it subpoenaed the person who spreads the rumors, but that it has already been located, that is, they already know who it is, and that the case was referred to the public prosecutor.
- They said they will investigate more, for now enjoy gurumi
- No gurumiharibo is a foreigner so because of state of Korea laws big hit can’t really take any legal action
