When it comes to the times BTS members have been “caught” using X to secretly lurk on ARMY, fans will probably immediately think of Jungkook. One such instance came in the documentary I AM STILL, when the idol searched his own name on Twitter on his phone right after his 2023 performance at TSX Times Square. More recently, after discovering a post on X falsely accusing him of pretending to be an anime fan, Jungkook took a screenshot and directly responded to it — but in the process, he also inadvertently “exposed” that he has an anonymous X account and regularly keeps up with what people say about him online.
Besides Jungkook, the second biggest “suspect” in ARMY’s eyes is RM. The BTS leader often keeps up with fan discussions on the platform at an astonishing speed, almost as if he is quietly following every conversation in real time. Whenever a discussion becomes serious, RM quickly responds either directly or indirectly, seemingly as a way to address the issue or clear up misunderstandings.
Recently, another name on the “list of suspected fan lurkers” was υиєχρє¢тє∂ly caught in the act — V!
It all started when a large V fan account posted a screenshot showing that BTS’ official X account, which has been directly managed by the members for years since their debut, had followed her account. Along with the screenshot, the account owner wrote, “framing this,” suggesting that she wanted to preserve this special moment forever.
The post immediately caused a stir among fans, with many congratulating the account owner for receiving such a special follow: "Make this a header omg", "I’m happy for you gurl you deserves it", "I think it’s an α¢¢ι∂єитal follow but still congrats!! Put it on a billboard cuz that’s a crazy flex", "Omgg such a win for you. Congratulations!!", "Well this is one way to find out the bts_twt is acc is still alive. Congrats girl", "CONGRATULATIONS GIRL OMFG THIS IS INSANE",...
Amid the congratulations, some ARMY quickly came up with an interesting theory: “Someone was probably supposed to follow ur acc on their dump but added u on the main instead.” And the name that immediately came to many people’s minds was none other than V. The most obvious reason is that this is a large fan account dedicated to him, followed by the fact that V has a history of showing particular interest in content posted by ARMY on X.
Back in June this year, V shared a black-and-wнιтe video capturing a moment when he was completely immersed in a stage performance. Notably, the video was not edited by him. The original edit was created and posted on X by an ARMY with the account @tkrse7, who is also a big V fan. The original edit was posted on June 12 and had attracted more than 350,000 views before V shared it.
Then in July, ARMY also noticed that BTS’ official X account had quietly followed the fan account @tetebbi — once again, a fan account dedicated to V.
These consecutive clues sparked a major theory within the fandom: V may have a secret personal X account that he uses to keep track of fan discussions about himself. Fans also speculated that the idol may have confused BTS’ main account with his own dump account, α¢¢ι∂єитally leaving behind traces such as the follows mentioned above.
In fact, V’s habit of quietly keeping up with fan activity is not soмєтнing new. Fans recalled that Jimin once revealed V had shown him a painting drawn by a fan, and that the artwork inspired him to add four more moons to his original moon tattoo. The original artwork had also been posted on Twitter by an ARMY with the account @ArizzoStudios.
Another famous incident from the past was even more hilarious. V once α¢¢ι∂єитally joined an ARMY KakaoTalk group chat at around 3 a.m. At the time, no one in the group believed that the user named “Kim Taehyung” was actually Kim Taehyung from BTS. Since he was unfamiliar with the group chat’s rules, V was repeatedly reminded of them and was even warned that he could be kicked out for impersonating a celebrity.
The idol tried to explain himself, sent voice messages, and even posted proof on Twitter, but most of the ARMY in the chat still did not believe it was really him. Eventually, after trying to adjust to the rules but still struggling to fit in, V decided to leave the conversation. It was not until the next morning, when the story spread widely, that everyone realized they had actually “kicked out” their own idol from the group chat.
At this point, fans cannot help but feel that they have enough reason to suspect “V” of lurking on ARMY. While the whole thing is hilarious, fans are also a little wary because there is always a chance that the person currently reading or even joining the discussion under a comment could actually be him!
