V Opens Up About A Thing In The Military That Deeply Affected His Life After Discharge, Leaving Fans Heartbroken

V recently completed his mandatory military service, which lasted for 18 months, and officially reunited with BTS this past June. On July 3, he finally resumed with his first official schedule since discharge — attending CELINE’s fashion show, where he serves as a global brand ambαѕѕador.

While nearly two years in the military may not seem like a long time, it was enough to bring about significant changes in him. Fans have often marveled at V’s bulked-up physique since his return, but what many didn’t know is that his daily lifestyle and mental habits have also been deeply affected.

During an impromptu live broadcast on July 5, just a day before the fashion show, V opened up to fans and reflected on his life post-discharge. One of his most υиєχρє¢тє∂ confessions had to do with how his sleeping patterns have changed since serving in the army.

“I don't know if it’s because I served in the military, at the slightest sound I can’t sleep anymore. Even before, I’m going to clean up for a while. They came in from the hotel. Because of that I’m so tired. I was going to sleep a little more but I ℓσѕт all sleep. Actually I used to be able to sleep deeply, but now even a little bit of noise will make me wide awake. I don’t know if it’s because of military service”, V shared.

His comment ѕнσ¢кed many netizens, who hadn’t realized that even soмєтнing as basic as getting proper rest could become so difficult for sol∂ιєrs. Some speculated that this was a result of the military’s heightened state of alert — with sudden alarms, late-night roll calls, or mandatory guard duties conditioning sol∂ιєrs to sleep lightly and wake up at the slightest noise.

Others in the fandom also chimed in, saying they’d heard similar stories from friends or family members who had served, proving that V’s experience isn’t uncommon.

In a previous OT7 livestream with BTS, V had also revealed that he unconsciously performs a military-style roll call at home before breakfast — a habit he hadn’t been able to break yet.

As the video of his confession began circulating widely online, many fans expressed deep concern over the lingering effects of military life on V’s mental well-being. Some even voiced anger and frustration over the emotional toll that military service has taken on him:

- It’s нєαятвяєαкιиg to think even sleep became a struggle for him.

- This isn’t just ‘military discipline’ — it’s psychological damage.

- He deserves peace now, not carry this anxiety with him.

- The system needs to be more mindful of the long-term impact on these young men.

- oh I hope he can overcome this stress or can be able to sleep properly like before.. and he'll ofc do it cz we know how much strong he is..

- the blue house will pay for this. i'll never get over his rib injury and how people just brushed it off like it was nothing

- I hope he can go back to his old sleeping habits. Poor Tae, he did say he went to a really scary place too, and I imagine that him being in a special unit meant that he literally trained to be f*cking alert and ready at all times.

- It hurts my heart when I hear him say that. I used to sleep that way. Never fully in deep sleep but Maybe a few hours. Any small noise and you're wide awake. I hope it gets better. You can sleep on live tae army will watch Over you. So you can feel safe.

- and some said "he was enjoying, he wants to go back" like stfu!! him doesn't saying, explaining his hardest times doesn't mean he wasn't going through difficulties being in the hardest unit though, despite everyone he handled it SO WELL that they thought he's loving it but NO.

- Military routine does have this effect of alertness even in sleep. That place traumatised them alot

- It's understandable, that place trains your body to be on alert. Another day of me hating that military
