At present, BTS are regarded as the world’s top K-pop superstars, “idols of idols,” admired by countless people. Many young idols have said they were inspired by BTS’s music as well as their careers, which clearly shows the group’s position at the very top.
But even as the so-called “21st century pop icons,” BTS have always expressed praise for their fellow groups and revealed that they, too, have their own “idols” in the industry, just like anyone else. They often openly show their respect for other artists in interviews or while chatting with fans. They also never hesitate to recommend songs by other artists that they personally enjoy.
Alongside RM and Jungkook, V is one of the members who does this most often. Just a few hours ago, he even held an impromptu livestream from his home while enjoying music—simply because he wanted to listen together with fans.
What stood out the most in this livestream was that the majority of the songs came from the legendary group Brown Eyed Soul. V also affirmed that he has been a devoted fan of the band that was among the most famous in кσяєα during the 2000s—back when he was still in elementary school.
Specifically, he υиєχρє¢тє∂ly revealed his long-held affection for Brown Eyed Soul. He said: "So, like…the reason is..well kind of TMI but..it’s not like someone asked me to play this or that I know them personally. I just thought I’d share that I’ve been a fan for ages. I’m a fan of Brown Eyed Soul".
"I’ve always listened to them whenever I wanted to feel good, and since they just dropped a new song. A lot of people loved them back in the 90s and I did too. But right now I’m just in the mood for their music...So yeah, next up is Brown Eyed Soul. I wanted to listen together so I turned on the live", he added. Then, he turn on a series of their famous song like "Promise You", "Was It The Wind?", "My Story", "Did We Really Love?", "Love Ballad", "The Lord in the Storm", "If It's the Same".
Debuting in 2003 with the album Soul Free, Brown Eyed Soul—consisting of Naul, Jungyup, and Youngjun—quickly won over fans with their strength in the genres of R&B, soul, and ballads. The group has also often been praised for their outstanding live vocal abilities and rich harmonies.
One remarkable point is that V’s confession came right on the eve of Brown Eyed Soul’s release of their fifth studio album Soul Tricycle (on September 23)—their first in six years. It almost felt like V was promoting the group he personally idolizes, which fans found endearing.
On the other hand, what makes this story truly special is the way he shared from his own genuine experience with music and with the band that has been tied to him, nurturing his soul since childhood. Now, after many years, even though the band’s fame may have faded somewhat, V still shows the undiminished excitement of a true fan.
As fans listened to V’s words and enjoyed Brown Eyed Soul’s music playing throughout the livestream, they also shared many thoughts, including:
