On the 11th, YouTube channel 'Bangtan TV' released the 18th episode video of 'Suchwita'. This episode is a special episode as it features the participation of V - the last member of BTS to carry out a solo project and is promoting his album.
During the conversation between SUGA and V this week, they had a lot of time to look back at BTS's journey together and many memories were recalled. One of them was the group's most difficult time when almost the members thought about disbanding. When thinking back on that time, V candidly shared his thoughts at that time as well as the pain he endured.
Below are what V and SUGA shared about BTs thinking about disbanding the group:
At the present time, BTS has been on their journey for more than a decade and they are still continuing a wonderful chapter 2 with their fans while performing their m̷i̷l̷i̷t̷a̷r̷y̷ service. V is also currently the last member of BTS promoting his new solo album released a few days ago.
Of course, one of the talk shows that V cannot miss to introduce his album is SUGA's Suchwita. Here, the two had a warm conversation together as they looked back on the journey they had gone through. They told each other both new and old stories, both joys and sorrows.
In particular, when talking about the past, V chose the period of promoting 'Fake Love' as the most difficult time the group had to go through. Recall, during his award acceptance speech at MAMA 2018, Jin shed a lot of tears after receiving the award: "It was really tough for all of us mentally earlier this year. We even talked about whether to disband or not and gave it a lot of thought… but we pulled ourselves together and I’m so glad that we were able to receive such an amazing award. I’d like to thank our members for pulling togther. I’m so grateful for our members and for ARMY for always showing us their love and support. Thank you."
Regarding this, V said that this was the first time he shared the difficulties they had experienced during the previous period. He and SUGA admitted that although the members always try and work hard, there are many times when we feel exhausted.
In particular, V admitted that there was a time when he wanted to rest but couldn't and he forced himself to endure the pain to get through that time. He talked about how exhaustion was the most important reason why he and the members thought about disbanding: "It was the toughest time in my life... As my debut years went by, I started to compare "Because my pace is lower than the members" and "My thought are a bit different" "is that why I'm more burned out?" I thought this a lot. Whenever, I looked at our members when we perform, the members are so perfect and they enjoy the stage. "But why am I the only one like this?" is what I thought at that time [Compared his exhausted self to the others]. So relatively, my burn out was serve."
At that time, there were many notable achievements, including Billboard, but actually the members all had the same thought: "So what if our results are good? Why do we have to ȟɥȑț ourselves this much in pursuit of results?". V said: "Those were my thoughts as I was exhausted. I was so exhausted I thought so much about taking just one day off. I was so tired I wanted one day where I could do nothing. In 2018 after we shot the MV for "FAKE LOVE" I was so exhausted that I asked, "Since tomorrow we only have dance practice, would it be okay if we took a day off?" But we were preparing for our comeback and it was an important dance practice so we couldn't rest so I was like, "I guess we can't rest" [In face of the reality where they couldn't rest] and all this negativity piled up inside me [his heart really broke down]. I didn't think I could do anything in that state so I kept thinking of ways I could rest but I couldn't think of anything. So I even thought I should get ȟɥȑț [If I get ȟɥȑț, would I be able to rest?] so I thought I should get ȟɥȑț...We were at our limits..."
It was also that difficult time that created 'Tear' - a song known for its lyrics about breaking up between lovers, but in reality, it was written while the members thought about disbanding. But in the end, luckily, all the members sat back and rested for a while thinking of the fans and other members, they decided to extend their contract in the last moments.
V also added that when he and Jungkook received a text message from SUGA with the line "Love you guys", they both had more will to move on. A message from SUGA during that difficult time touched V and also gave him an opportunity to become stronger. This shows that when the members are together, they can solve even the most complicated situations.
Thanks to BTS's great friendship, we can still witness the journey of the 7 boys for many more years. So grateful that V, SUGA and BTS got through that difficult period together!
