Today, вιg нιт Music released official information about SUGA's enlistment date. Along with that, they also shared about his enlistment process and enlistment form with fans around the world.
With this information, SUGA becomes the third member of BTS to perform m̴i̴l̴i̴t̴a̴r̴y̴ service. However, unlike Jin or j-hope, SUGA's enlistment period is expected to last 3 months longer than the other members. This difference comes from their different forms of enlistment.
Below are detailed information about SUGA's enlistment period as well as the time he is expected to be discharged:
On September 17, вιg нιт Music announced on Weverse that SUGA will enlist in the army starting from September 22. According to the announcement, no special events will be held on the day he enters m̴i̴l̴i̴t̴a̴r̴y̴ training camp. The company also requested fans not to visit SUGA's workplace during his enlistment.
With the information that вιg нιт Music informed fans, many people realized that SUGA will not enlist like the other members at the m̴i̴l̴i̴t̴a̴r̴y̴ camp. Specifically, SUGA will perform m̴i̴l̴i̴t̴a̴r̴y̴ service as a community service officer. This also means that SUGA will not have to go to the m̴i̴l̴i̴t̴a̴r̴y̴ camp but will start his work at a designated agency on September 22.
After 10 months of working as a community service worker, SUGA will attend a 3-week basic training course. However, SUGA's enlistment as a community service worker will be longer than other BTS members. According to ̾k̾o̾r̾e̾an law, for active duty solďïệrs, the service period is 18 months, while for public service personnel (or social workers), the service period is 21 months.
Therefore, SUGA will enlist until June 2025, 3 months longer than the other members!
The result of this form of m̴i̴l̴i̴t̴a̴r̴y̴ service was the aftereffects of the shoulder surgery in which he was injured. SUGA is not eligible to perform active m̴i̴l̴i̴t̴a̴r̴y̴ service according to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense and must perform community service instead.
Even though SUGA had to enlist for a longer period of time, fans are still waiting for him and the BTS members:
