The Reason Why SUGA’s Parents Finally Decided To Move To Seoul To Live With Him After All These Years

Fans are well aware that most BTS members have owned their own apartments and lived alone since leaving the group dorms around 2020. In contrast, the members’ siblings or parents generally do not live with them, even in cases where some families are also based in Seoul. Fans also know that SUGA’s family is originally from Daegu, and for many years, he has often mentioned returning to his hometown to visit his parents whenever he had free time.

However, during a BTS livestream late last year, SUGA revealed a surprising change: his parents have recently moved to Seoul and are now living with him. Specifically, he mentioned to the members, “That’s the funny thing, since now I’m living with my parents.” RM immediately responded, “Of course, that’s the effect of living with your parents.”

BTS rapper then continued, “My accent (Satoori) is coming back strongly because I’m with them. The slightest use of dialect in public has been attracting a lot of attention lately” and he even demonstrated by saying “Don’t mess around” in the Daegu dialect, sending both the members and fans into laughter.

Although it was only a brief comment, fans immediately realized that SUGA was no longer living alone and that his home now had new residents—his parents. Moreover, the way he talked about it suggested that they were not simply visiting for a few days, but had actually moved in with him for an extended period.

The revelation warmed fans' hearts, reαѕѕuring them that SUGA now has his family by his side. Having family nearby provides tremendous emotional support, and fans believe no one could take better care of him than his own parents. Many are confident that with his family's support, SUGA will be able to make a perfect comeback with BTS next spring.

Meanwhile, fans also began speculating about why SUGA's parents decided to relocate to Seoul after spending so many years in Daegu. One of the most convincing explanations comes from real estate reports that were widely covered by кσяєαn media late last year. According to those reports, SUGA's mother owns a newly completed building in Hannam-dong worth approximately 17.3 billion won.

The building was completed this year and consists of eight floors, including two basement levels, six above-ground floors, and a rooftop structure. It was built on land purchased in December 2022 by a company represented by SUGA's mother, with the original purchase price reportedly exceeding 10 billion won. It appears that the building becoming operational may have prompted SUGA’s parents—the owners of the property—to move to Seoul for a period of time to manage it

Adding to the speculation, fans noticed that a poke restaurant called Chompi, operated by SUGA's older brother Min Geum Jae, occupies the first floor of the building. Some fans have said they frequently see SUGA's brother and father at the restaurant supervising its day-to-day operations. The newly opened restaurant Chompi follows a healthy dining concept, serving poke bowls, sandwiches, and coffee made with fresh ingre∂ιєnts. The food has been praised for its flavor, reasonable prices, and generous portions. The interior is spacious and combines modern aesthetics with a warm, cozy atmosphere.

Some fans also recalled that around October and November of last year, SUGA's family was often seen walking his beloved dog, Min Holly, around the building. They were even allowed by SUGA’s family to take photos or interact directly with the dog.

At first, fans αѕѕumed SUGA's parents were simply in Seoul to help prepare for the grand opening of his brother's restaurant. However, based on SUGA's recent comments and кσяєαn media reports, it now appears that this was not just a short visit, but a long-term move to Seoul for business-related reasons.

Whatever the reason may be, fans are simply happy to know that SUGA is now being looked after by his parents. Another comforting thought is that while SUGA is away touring the world with BTS, having his parents at home means his apartment will always feel warm and lived-in, while his beloved cat, Seoltang, will also be well cared for.

Another interesting detail is that the luxury apartment where SUGA now lives with his parents is located in Nine One Hannam, right next to the residences of Jimin and RM. He moved into the prestigious apartment complex in 2023 after previously purchasing a luxury villa in UN Village for 3.4 billion won in 2018 and spending some time living at Parc Hannam beginning in November 2021.
