BTS debuted back in 2013, and since then, the group has seen their fame and popularity globally skyrocket. With their insane talent, dazzling visuals, and charming personalities, the members have captured the hearts of netizens worldwide.
Considering their global influence, it isn’t surprising that the members have been dubbed “Sold-out Kings.”
Whether it is albums, tours, or even products they’ve just used, BTS has a habit of making things sell-out. Tickets for their tours can literally be sold out within a matter of minutes, even for the largest venues. Lines are massive as ARMYs wait for a glimpse of their favorite group.
It seems like it isn’t just concerts that people are lining up to see. At the end of August, a BTS pop-up store was opened in Toronto, Canada, at the Toronto Eaton Centre.
From the minute it was open, it was always busy with queues, and many were even camping for hours to make sure they had a first chance of buying BTS merch. Of course, always, BTS-related items are always sought after. The wide variety of goods in the store is also a reason why this store is so attractive.
However, less than two weeks after the store opened, they had to post on Instagram announcing that the location would be temporarily closed. Many ARMYs were surprised and disappointed by this announcement. But the reason explained in the second image on the post made them laugh. But it also shocked many people because of the true influence of BTS globally.
The company explained that, even after opening for a few weeks, it had already sold out of everything in store. They also added that the global shortage of BTS merchandise makes it nearly impossible to keep the store open to serve the needs of fans.
In an article from DailyHive, they interviewed the founder of Sukoshi Mart, the company that opened the store. Although Linda Dang explained that the issues weren’t helped by importing goods from overseas, she also stated the importance of the shop’s popularity: "It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say things were literally “flying off the shelf,”‘ she said, adding that the purple Tiny Tan whale mood light sold out within hours on opening day"
When the news was announced, ARMYs had the funniest reactions to the post. While many marveled at BTS's influence, others joked that ARMYs always said they didn't have money but ended up buying so much that the store couldn't keep up with the demand:
- ARMYs go shopping like it's grocery
- Hopefully everything will be restocked soon
- the power of army yah ka
- This is why ARMYs always line up early for merch. Be it at a store or a concert
- I had a feeling this would happen. I took this Friday off!? let’s hope they restock quick
- Never expect anything less than this from ARMY
- THIS WAS AN OPTION!?!?!?!?!?!
- The power and impact
- Armys toronto yall wild
- I know they will reopen soon, but I laugh how Army ends everything in its path
BTS seems to be the golden hand in the world of sales, it seems like everything they touch is sold out instantly. Hopefully it won't be long before the store is fully stocked and Canadian ARMYs can shop for the merchandise they want.
