The Low-key Yet long-standing Friendship Between ADORA And A BTS Member Wins Fans' Admiration

Recently, news has emerged that a virtual girl group named OWIS is set to debut with a global focus in 2026. Unlike traditional idols, the members do not appear before the public with their real-life visuals, but instead are presented through technologically created personas that are “story-driven.” OWIS is an acronym for “Only When I Sleep.” The group’s concept revolves around dreams and the boundary between reality and the subconscious, with a narrative and visual world designed to connect and immerse au∂ιєnces in that experience.

ama (All My Anecdotes), a newly established entertainment company with Lee Hae-in (former creative director of Kiss of Life) serving as CCO alongside CEO Kim Jae, unveiled OWIS’s debut trailer at the 40th Golden Disc Awards, held in Taipei on January 10. Along with the trailer, information about the group’s four members was revealed: Jini (former NMIXX member), ADORA (soloist and former BigHit producer), Ryu Sujeong (former Lovelyz member), and Lee Hae-in (former creative director of Kiss of Life).

Among them, ADORA has drawn particular attention from ARMYs. If you have been a long-time fan of BTS, you are likely familiar with ADORA for her role as a producer who worked closely with the group for nearly half a decade!

Starting with the 2016 album “Wings,” the year she joined the company, ADORA participated in lyric writing and composition for every BTS album thereafter, including “Spring Day,” “Not Today,” and “Best of Me” from the 2017 repackage of their second full-length album; “Love Yourself” from their 2018 second full-length album; “Map of the Soul: Persona” from their sixth mini album in 2019; and “Map of the Soul: 7” from their fourth full-length album in 2020.

Although she ended her exclusive producer contract with BigHit Music in 2020, ADORA continued to collaborate with BTS members on several projects. Notably, she supported SUGA on his album “D-Day,” and Jin on his solo album “Echo.” In particular, many people are unaware that SUGA and ADORA are close friends in real life, a friendship that has been maintained over many years.

Their friendship began in 2026, when ADORA joined BigHit Music and became an in-house producer. Given their shared work in music production and recording, it is easy to understand why SUGA grew close to ADORA, much like he did with other veteran BigHit producers such as Pdogg, Slow Rabbit, and EL CAPITXN. Many listeners were especially impressed upon hearing ADORA’s harmonies with SUGA in the standout track “Seesaw,” often praising her voice as that of a “mermaid.”

Later, when ADORA debuted as a solo artist, SUGA repeatedly expressed his support and encouragement for his former producer. On one occasion, when ADORA covered “Spring Day” on Artrock, she said: “Because he cheered me on, as the original artist, I was a bit… I thought I should have done better. I remember feeling a bit shy and very grateful.”

During that same time, SUGA asked ADORA to help him with a personal music project, though she did not yet know what it would be. Nevertheless, she accepted without hesitation. She recalled: “I didn’t know what kind of song it was yet—it was just to check on my condition, to see if I could do it. So I said that I can do anything.”

Then, in April 2023, fans learned that the project was in fact the track “SDL” from Agust D’s first official full-length solo album “D-Day.” Beyond working with SUGA on this project, ADORA was also present at KSPO Dome on the first day of his “Agust D TOUR ‘D-DAY’ THE FINAL” encore concerts, where she supported the performance alongside the backing band. In a livestream afterward, SUGA could not stop praising her, saying: “ADORA… Our Dora’s amazing chorus.”

What began through music, the friendship between SUGA and ADORA has now spanned a decade—enduring, steadfast, and deeply meaningful. The way they continue to support one another regardless of circumstances, whether under the same label or after their professional paths diverged, has earned the admiration of fans. Reflecting on the journey these talented artists have shared, fans commented:
